I don’t care how good former LSU pitchers were, none of them can compete with Skenes

We are talking about the best ever, like Joe Burrow.

Nola is the only one that comes close that I’ve personally witnessed.

He’s the most talented. Period.

Unreal and generational. Sad we only have him a year but grateful we do.

ETA:

Crazy to think he’s a pretty damn good batter too.

You have to put McDonald on that list

Nola and McDonald have arguments. All three were unreal at the college level

He’s up there with Stephen Strasburg and Roger Clemens as far as all time great college pitchers are concerned.

Nola was pretty close. Better off speed. But, less velo.

Skenes is better. The SEC he’s facing is much stronger and how much better he is than his peers is unreal.

I love Ben. Legendary Tiger and one of my favorites. Skenes looks like an MLB ace mowing kids down.

Never had one with this kind of stuff
Even McDonald wasn’t touching 99-100
His ability to carry that kind of stuff that late into game is impressive
He’s so good he throws more pitches than he has to because they can’t touch it

The single season high water mark is Peever.

I think we are now passing that.

Big Ben and Nola had amazing multiple seasons. But none a single season like this.

I am. I’ve heard the stories but I was a year away from being born when he was drafted.

Ben McDonald didn't have the ridiculous numbers that Skenes has, but in terms of a pitcher dominating his opponents, Ben, Skenes, Nola, and Gausman were the best I've seen. Skenes takes the prize though.

Ben had 44 scoreless inning in a row. I was old enough to remember that now. It was pretty breathtaking to watch back then. That's what I mean by DOMINANT.

Until now I had Ben McDonald at the top of the list but I think he has been overtaken. Just as long as Skenes doesn’t give up a walk off grand slam ball in the CWS.

Today was impressive how he was able to make it deep into the game before his pitch count ran up. Thats what always impressed about nola is not only was he dominant each start but he also pitched an avg of over 7 innings each start.

However comparisions are hard becuz nola has the benefit of the dead ball and bat era he was playing in.

Unfortunately I wasn't even born when he was at LSU.

I feel like I remember Nola going 8 innings every start giving up 1 run and LSU losing 2–1.

Big Ben was pretty ridiculous…I know he had something like a 45 scoreless inning streak at one point…anyway, he might be a smidge below Skenes, but he deserves serious respect.
