Woodward hired Jay Johnson Goat
Kim Mulkey
Jay Clark
These programs are thriving and going to win more national titles.
Much better than Alleva ever did

Woodward is an excellent AD. It would be a MAJOR blow if we lose him.

Nobody could have imagined Woodward would have struck out with Coach McMahon. Everything seems to indicate he was a great hire at the time, and many on this board welcomed his arrival in BR.

This is the dilemma.
Scott is FAR more capable than Landry and his hacks.
But he has created some of the most expensive errors in amateur athletic history
Horrible mistakes of judgment.
We certainly don’t need Landry near this process.
We need an AD who is highly capable and accountable.
How do we get that without Landry pulling the strings?

And that is exactly what will happen. Isn’t there an issue between Woodward and Landry?

I’ve changed my mind a bit on Woodward. I was hoping he’d be out but I’d be fine with Woodward remaining AD *IF* he’s not the guy with ultimate say in the hiring process.
LSU hasn’t won more than 9 games in a season since he’s been AD and he still has people willing to pull out their checkbooks to write huge checks.
He is, obviously, an A+ fundraiser. So as along as the people who have the real money are ok with him, and are will to keep signing checks, might as well keep him on.

Alleva for all his faults was the AD who hired a NC winning football coach and SEC champion basketball coach. Both made ASTRONOMICALLY more revenue than any hire of Woodward’s.

Firing Scott Woodward is very risky. As badly as he handled Will Wade and men’s basketball, I still think he has done a good job overall
I don’t understand why people want to get rid of him when he clearly will not be in charge of hiring the next football coach.

I think that decision is probably made in conjunction with some of the wealthy athletic department donors and prominent alumni. Donors who are paying buyout clauses and giving tens of millions of dollars to the athletic department probably feel like their voice should be considered in the final analysis.

Landry is completely replacing all the most powerful administrators at LSU with people aligned to him. The benefit is going to be that this search will leak like the Titanic.
Landry wants to be Huey long and Donald Trump wrapped up in one.

Spending is his weakness.

A strength of Woodward is that his hires are dead arse silent. It's uncanny.

I still think he has done a good job overall.

t's not his fault Kelly shite the bed.
Giving Kelly no incentive to win is LSU's fault. 10 million a year buyout? fricking crazy
What did he win at Notre Dame to warrant the LSU job?

BK for all his issues did cleanup the mess left by O at the end.
And this is where I’ve seen the light.
You’re 100% correct in what he cleaned up. One of the things I’ve touted.
But the 10 year contract was insane. Probably required to get him to consider, and while I think he truly came here to win one for his legacy’s cherry on top, he realized after 2023 and a few games into this year it wasn’t happening so that same guaranteed contract let him just say frick it, and some select people are accountable for that, scott included. That’s a lot of money that fortunately someone had to bail out his arse.

Look I think Kelly is an arse. But, his record pre-LSU was really good. There is a lot to unpack there. He had Marcus Freeman, Mike Elko, Clark Lea on staff.
Was it his staff or BK?
