I didn’t realize how inexperienced and exclusively “Clemson grad” Dabo’s staff was.

Below is list of his staff. Does nobody else want to work for Dabo? Does he sacrifice experience for only yes men? Does he not want to bring in other cultures or ideas?

WR Tyler Grisham. Former player and never coached anywhere else.
RB CJ Spiller. Great player. No coaching experience.
QB Tahj Boyd. Great player, time in the NFL. No coaching experience.
TE Kyle Richardson. Only high school coaching before being a Clemson lifer.

DT Nick Eason. Some NFL experience but a Clemson grad.
CB Mike Reed. Good coach. Clemson since 2013.
LB Ben Boulware. Great player at Clemson. Young and zero previous coaching exp.
S Nolan Turner. Very young, zero previous experience. Clemson grad. (Still has nightmares of Chase burning him in 2019)
Nickelbacks Corico Wright. Clemson grad. Second stint with Tigers.
Def pass game coordinator Thomas Allen. DC’s son.

OL Matt Luke. Fired HC
OC Chad Morris. Fired HC
DC Tom Allen. Fired HC

Even if you look at their roster they have a lot of preppy looking baws with names like “Wells Tomlin” that seem like they would just be Dabo’s friends/football colleagues’ sons or nephews. All 3 of Dabo’s sons have also played for him at Clemson.

Clemson had an incredible run of college quarterbacks with Boyd, Watson, and Lawrence essentially succeeding each other, and venables had fantastic defenses.

Dabo gets credit for getting them there and the success of the program during that time, but unless he was always going to have one of the best qbs and dc in the country there has never been much indication he’s anywhere near one of the top coaches on the sport.

I counted 9 players on the roster from D.W. Daniel High School including Clay Swinney. He must just take everyone with a pulse from that school.

just because they were fired as a head coach does not mean they’re not a good coach.

True. But they can’t coach the whole squad. The positional coaches got taken to clinic on Saturday.

Holy crap I didn’t realize it was that bad for position coaches. That’s embarrassing.

I don't think it's that unusual for a coach to give opportunities to "his guys". Particularly as positional coaches.

Plus, Dabo didn't job-hop around to a bunch of different programs like a lot of coaches do. Gene Stallings kept him on staff as a WR coach at Bama after he was done playing. Then he got hired at Clemson as a WR coach because Tommy Bowden also coached him at Bama. That's all he knows.

You’re right. And it’ll get him fired.

Matt Luke is a good OL coach. Surprised at how poorly. his line played.

That’s too Clemson heavy. The “one of us” strategy doesn’t work.

That many being alums is very unusual and only one of them has coaching experience away from Clemson.

He's been a head coach for almost two decades now. He should have connections outside his immediate circle.

Their safeties coach graduated in 2022. Like imagine if Jay Ward wasn't in the NFL and was the safeties coach at LSU and something like this happened?

Man this screams Les Miles/Cam Cameron type of situation. What the hell was Dabo thinking.
