Why in the frick are you running shotgun formation on 4th and 1??

Aaron Donald and Von Miller were exploding the OLine on the snap. They were trying to give Joe extra time cause if they ran it, Rams had middle loaded up. That's also why Chase was wide open and receivers were single covered in a man to man. They were coming for him

It was a 4 man rush and Donald overpursued (because he was offsides). A sneak or handoff TO MIXON FFS woulda worked.

Not from the opposite hash, that would have been a pick. He was thinking slant the entire time in that man look, the guy headed to the flat would have created a rub but they had banjo coverage and that made him hesitate.
Respectfully disagree, Smash-Man.
Agreed he wanted the in pattern but besides tight coverage by the inside DB the Safety knew the tendency and was closing on it quickly. When the DB with boundary responsibility took a misstep the ball would have already been in the air and receiver was open with a good pass anyway.
If that out is from mid field or near hash chances are better for a break up/pick. The closer to that near hash, the more velo the QB has to put on that kind of throw which obviously keeps the ball on more of a string.
The oppo hash - even when QB fires a rope - will have some arc to it that prevents DB's jumping the route for a pick on a well thrown ball. (in the NFL anyway)
At any rate, I gotta believe that if his first read off the primary was to the outside guy it's a first down.
Too bad we'll never know.

Now I understand Why J Chase only tweeted one word after the SB, "damn". That sums this up.

this was on the same play. Donald lined up way offsides.

That was actually on the 4th and 1 in the first quarter when the Bengals went for it at midfield. That is not the final 4th and 1 of the game for the Bengals. Still sucks that the refs missed it. Would have given Joe a fresh set of downs on the Rams' side of the 50 with a chance to take the early lead in the game.

That was quite possibly the worse 2 plays they've called all year and it happened back to back on 3rd and 4th down.

Run up the middle without Mixon then got cute and tried to catch them off guard with a big play.

Or just double team Donald…
That was inexcusable imo…

Yea Chase had Ramsey on the ground and it was going to be over if JB had just a sliver more time

I legitimately think Chase will be the best WR in the NFL next year pending injury. He was making Ramsey, arguably the best CB in the NFL, look like dog shite. Reminds me of watching Randy Moss with how effortless his running/playmaking looks.
