I can't help but to agree with the doubters. Everyone knows Ole Miss is not that good of a

I suspect LSU drops to 6. Stanford moves up to 5. If Lsu can somehow impressively beat Arkansas then there will be no doubt. Then LSU would probably pass TCU and go to 4.

Of course Oregon should be punished for their 2-point win over Cal. I'm not defending any teams' close wins over inferior opponents. Furthermore, teams shouldn't be punished as severely for close losses to good teams as opposed to blowouts. Should LSU be punished as severely for its seven-point loss to Auburn as ULM for its 49-point loss? Should Alabama be punished as much for its three-point loss to LSU as ULM for its 51-0 beatdown? Alabama beat Arkansas by four points and beat 1-AA Georgia State by 56 points. The current system makes no distinction between these wins and losses, and that is a major flaw in the system that has been pointed out by many college football analysts. Here's a good article on the subject:

"In other words, after 10 wins and after an almost full regular season, it’s still possible to not know quite how good this LSU team really is." Pete Fituak, collegefootballnews.com

True.

I have to agree with the writers, we can not continue to play to the level of competition and be respected as the top 1 loss team in the country. (Negatigers) have been saying this all year but for somw reason the sunshine pumpers and positigers believe by being in the SEC and going 10-1/11-1 automatically qualifies you for greatness. Unfortunately Les and his belief of playing to the level of competition may come to bite him in the arse. I wont like it anymore than the next but not taking a dominate approach is going to cost us especially if Oregon/Auburn falter in the final stretch.

2007 team didn't dismantle anyone in the conference. Had to come from behind against Auburn, Bama, Ole Miss, Florida in the fourth quarter. Lost to Kentucky and Arkansas. Clobbered a horrible Croom coached MSU team.

If style points can help you, then style points can hurt you. If LSU should drop b/c of style points then so should Oregon and TCU who squeeked out wins against teams Ole Miss (as cr@ppy as they are this year) would still clobber. And if we are going to take a hit b/c of the Ole Miss "WIN", then we should have moved up b/c of a 51-0 victory over ULM.

Style points HAVE to be consistent to use them in an arguement!!!

Is it just me or is this the year we start to see the SEC backlash thats been long coming. People across the country are getting real tired of hearing how superior and great the SEC is. Outside of the SEC who wants to see the SEC hoist up another championship trophy for the fifth straight year?

Thats why you hear the constant talk of keeping LSU from jumping either TCU or Boise despite the fact that LSU has a much stronger schedule in a much tougher conference and lost to the number 2 team in the nation on the road.

Now you got people coming out of the woodwork to get Cam and Auburn out of the picture. This is only the beginning.

Let's not forget that the 2007 team didn't have to compete with four undefeated teams ranked ahead of it in the human polls, only Hawaii ranked behind it, and the 2003 team didn't have to compete with any undefeated teams at all. Also, Oregon did lose ground in the human polls after escaping Cal with a two-point win. The Ducks lost 11 first-place votes in the AP poll, 28 first-place votes in the Harris poll and four first-place votes in the Coaches' poll.

Look, it is all about the sports writers creating a public perception they hope will keep LSU out of the BCSCG because we did not win the SEC. They don't want another non-conference winner going to the BCSCG because they want the story of a non-AQ team like TCU or Boise State to go ahead of LSU. They want the voters to hear their arguments and not vote LSU ahead. TCU and Boise State will be undefeated. Oregon and Auburn may end up undefeated also, but they both have a better chance of getting beat than TCU or Boise State. If that happens and LSU beats Arky, then LSU it will not shock me if LSU were to be in a photo finish to end up in the BCSCG as they would be #3 in Harris and Coaches and they have a possibly better computer ranking than TCU and BS. You do not need to win your conference to win the BCSNC...it has been said before. If Oregon and Auburn lose, watch how close it will be if we beat Arky.

LSU plays to the level of their opponent. Everyone can see that. And its what keeps us from being a "great" team. However, eking out a win versus a shite Ole Miss team is still more impressive to me than beating the hell out of Idaho.

My only concern is our inability to stop mobile QB's. If a back can find the edge, they usually smoke us. But since Mallet is a pro style pocket passer, it shouldn't come into play...at least not before the bowl.

The truth hurts. Neither Tennessee nor Ole Miss should have been on the same field with LSU, yet the Tigers had to eek both games out in the last minute to win

Yeah, well go look and see how Wisconsin and Stanford played against Arizona State. ASU had Wisconsin beat, but blew it, and they should've beaten Stanford, as well. USC is arguably down this year, and Stanford needed a last second FG to beat them.

Some of you people make it out to be that we are the only fricking team that has close wins - we're not.

fricking 10-1 with a 7 point loss to the #1 team in the country and some of you numbnuts still complain.

I hate our fans sometimes.

Media finds something.

Previous years, it was LSU lack of OOC schedule.

This year, it is how we win.

Big Ten is not a power conference expect for a few teams. Wisconsin's OOC schedule is a joke.

Sanford. Ditto.

So I will throw it back at the media. Wisconsin and Stanford...play a serious OOC schedule.

Say whatever you want about a Les Miles-coached team, but don’t ever say that there’s an ounce of quit in it. Everyone knows Miles isn’t the nation’s best Xs and Os guy and can be rather quirky late in games, but his ability to motivate shines through whenever his players are embroiled in nail-biters. Take Saturday, for instance. Ole Miss came to play, which surprised no one. And LSU was not at its best, especially its usually reliable defense. Yet, the Tigers kept battling, gathering up new heroes along the way as the second half progressed. If the D wasn’t going to lead the way this time around, then the punchless offense would have to show up for a change. While QB Jordan Jefferson is borderline SEC caliber, he still threw for a career-high 254 yards and got a big day from little-used TE DeAngelo Peterson. RB Stevan Ridley had been quiet lately, but was able to manufacture his best game in more than a month, capped by the game-winning score. And young back Michael Ford is the kind of player who needs to get more touches before starting his sophomore season in 2011.
