More P5 teams is the key. And they don’t have to marquee. Schedule a home and home with Cal or Maryland or Minnesota. Let that replace one of the FCS or Sun Belt games. I think more people would show up to watch us play a Minnesota or Maryland or Cal. Plus it would provide an interesting and unique road trip for fans the following year.

I can't remember the last time LSU played 8 home games. It's always been 7 as long as I've been a season ticket holder, and two of those are usually garbage that I can't even give away to friends or family
We had 8 in ‘08 & ‘12, and the games at NRG since then are effectively trade offs for the 8th.

Actually if you pay a school enough money. And do a two game series like LSU does than schools are more than likely to play you. It’s more disingenuous by Sabin to say they can’t schedule people they’re not given favorable terms to schools.

I’m 100% on board, though he could lead by example and not have Duke as his “premier” OOC opponent and quit scheduling crap FCS teams at the very least
The fact is Bama has been orchestrating the SEC schedule for decades. They won’t give up the Tenn game and they make the home office spread out their conference games to their advantage.
While on occasion they have played a big feature game, they usually schedule a less than physical power 5 school like Duke, Louisville and W Va.

it would probably result in some smaller D1s shutting down, considering their revenue loss from playing these big time schools each year

Starting the season in August borders on the criminal.

Who Cares what NFL thimks boring game. College rules

Everyone hates on Bama for their schedule, but nobody wants to play them.

You wouldn’t have to go undefeated to get in the playoffs because you’d play a more quality schedule.
You mean like the 5 times Alabama has already made the BCSNC Game or the CFP without being undefeated? This part of Saban's statement is self-serving because he knows that it is rare that there are 2 other SEC West teams capable of beating Alabama in the same season AND finsifing with onlt one loss. And if they do, they will probably go to Atlanta because of a head to head victory, that would leave Bama on the outside looking in.

you can pretend thats true, but the NFL is the only reason a lot of these players put in the time and effort that they do.
As stated, more P5 schools is not in the best interest of the players long term.

Good for CFB, bad for NFL. This will wear down players throughout a season and college career along with potentially more injuries. Just my two cents.
This actually sounds bad for CFB. ZFG about what it means for the NFL.

Next season, LSU will have 8 (UT returns the trip).
This is not correct. We have 7 home games again next year.
And a neutral site game is not a home game for the purposes of your argument (beer sales, local restaurants, etc.)

Saban is so full of crap it's coming out of his ears.
Bama has a bye before aTm and LSU, and plays an fcs team in November, the week before Auburn. He can say he wants a tougher schedule because he knows he'll never get it.

UGH...of course. However, the sites LSU plays generally DOES take into account the number of alums in the area, recruiting effect, etc. But,I am talking about ALL P5 schools. Not just LSU. LSU / Bama would have to schedule THOSE teams. Few of them are going to be willing to give up that Home game. We are NOT suggesting that the other teams be the TOP of the P5..it will be the Kansas and Indiana's of the world that fill out those schedules. How do you get THEM to do that?
Very few teams actually are involved in those Neutral Site games (relative to the P% schools that exist). I am not myopic. I am not believing that LSU is the only consideration.
It is not happening

This is such nonsense
This is the same argument that was made about having a playoff and expanding the schedule. In the past they played 11 games and a bowl, now teams can play 13-15 games. Is there any evidence of more injuries or “players being worn down, whatever that means
Posted on 9/10/19 at 10:10 am to jbraua
Saban...Who made him schedule those teams?

you dont get more worn down by playing better competition. Your fricking ACL does not care if you are playing Utep or Alabama
This is a dumb take. Have you ever played the game? probably not but if you have, you must have been repeatedly concussed

You're right. So two eight-game seasons in the last 12 years, and not another 8 game season for at least the next two seasons. It's a rarity. Still doesn't change my opinion, as a season-ticker holder, that I would prefer 6 home games of significant interest than 4 with 3 powder-puff low interest opponents.
ETA: correct spelling

then saban schedules vandy, Mizzou, Tennessee, SC, TX Tech and BYU.
claims parity.

Saban...Who made him schedule those teams?
To be fair..his claim is that these are the teams that accepted the invitation to play them (that date and at Bama)?
His contention is that there isn't a better team willing to take that road trip beat down. I'm not saying he is correct. Only, that he is suggesting that is all he could get.
