Who would LSU have a real shot at getting in the portal? I’ve read rumors of a few Aggie players possibly wanting out. LSU had a great young roster and recruiting is looking great. So, do we even dabble in the portal?

transfers this year cant play straight away. they will have to wait for one year. we need graduate transfers next year more than anything else on secondary so that they can play right away.

ETA: my information above is incorrect. apologies

Is this true? Was last year the only year they could play immediately (as long as they entered by a certain date)?

yes, it was a one-time rule for last year because of COVID-related matters.

Where are you getting that info? Pretty sure that is incorrect, and the 1 year sit period has been thrown out the window after 2020.

That sucks. Not sure how many impact players we can pull that will want to sit a year. There will be major bugging wars for quality grad transfers.

Adopted changes to transfer rules

quote:

College athletes in all sports will continue to be immediately eligible the first time they transfer, provided they notify their schools in writing during designated notification-of-transfer windows (as determined by their sport.)

This is absolutely incorrect.

They changed the rule.

Transfers can play immediately. But if they transfer a second time to another FBS school then they have to sit out a year.

If we can poach just 1 player, I hope it’s Jacoby Matthews.

Thanks.

CBK previously stated LSU would be active in the transfer portal this coming year to gap fill until his recruiting classes really kick in.

Just don’t forget that the portal runs both directions.

There isn’t a cap in the number of signees anymore so I am ok with the coaching staff getting anyone they think can help the program. Recruit or transfer.

Don't know where he got it, but the following is from the NCAA website:

"Do college athletes have to sit out a year if they transfer?
The “one-time transfer exception” remains in place, allowing immediate eligibility for athletes the first time they transfer. For all subsequent transfers, athletes will still be required to sit out a year or receive an NCAA waiver for immediate eligibility. Aug 31, 2022"
