Directly into the bag?

We would have scored Josh Smith from third to make it a tied ballgame in the late innings. Does LSU pull it out in Game 2?

If so, with Alex Lange on the mound, would LSU have won their 7th national title?

I don't think it changes anything. Unfortunately, Florida was the better team.

Honestly, losing Walker right then, I was surprised we made it as far as we did.

If LSU wins game 2, then they would have won game 3. LSU had Lange starting game 3 and Florida would have had no one. Faedo/Kowar what’s his face started game 1, were all burned. They would have been screwed pitching wise.

Winds were howling in those two nights. We kept trying to crush it out and they did a good job of "small ball".

Coulda woulda shoulda. We would have had an advantage in a third game for sure. But the team that earned it won. Hats off to them. Sucks for us.

Their bullpen was depleted. We win a game 3

Didn't UF score about six runs in the 9th? LSU just couldn't get the bats going. We almost stole game 1...if we would have forced a game 3, I would say we would have been favorites.

We were Vegas favorites going in to the series and if I remember correctly we were still Vegas favorites even after losing Game 1 or at least I heard that in radio pregame before night 2.

LSU would have won game 3

Edit: I still don't know if they win game 2 but it would have at least gone to extras.

Faedo may have been available for a couple innings but he wasn’t pitching 7 innings and 100 pitches. He had just thrown that Saturday 7 innings 100 pitches.

I was in Omaha that year. We had all the momentum in the game 2 comeback until Slaughter illegally slid. Nick Coomes also did everything he could to lose the WS that year with his putrid play at first base.

We win the WS in 3 games without either of those Mainieri-bred tards on the field

The Slaughter play happened in the top of the 7th so would not have guaranteed extras. Kramer was thrown out at home I’m the top of the 8th but Hess was gassed and got touched up for 4 runs in the bottom of the eights.

I will go to my grave saying if he doesn't have the biggest brain fart in history, LSU wins Game 2 and wins it all the next night.

O'Sullivan came out and said he had to win that one. He did not want to see Lange the next night.
