If one of our coordinators leave in the next few years. Who are some of the up and coming coordinators you would like too see at LSU? Not saying either is gonna leave just curious about what is out there.

Hypothetically, next time you think about starting a thread. Don't.

There's talk of Canada leaving, he's got a history of not getting along with his head coaches. He and O had some issues earlier this season. So it's a valid question.

Who's on the short list for OC if he leaves?

Aside from ridiculous tRant hearsay, no there is not.

Spare us all a witty response and just reply to this with legitimate sources saying hes leaving.

I think if Canada does leave, then O is going to get one of "his guys". Remember, the master plan in the binder had Kiffen as OC. Canada was plan B and a guy O had no history with prior to the Tiger Rant campaigning for his hire. O was still caught somewhere in the middle of still trying to appease the fanbase mode and trying to build his team mode. The next OC will be of "O's" choosing without any regard for what the fans think. He "earned the job".

So who does that leave us?:

1. Hugh Freeze - I think O would LOVE to bring Freeze in as OC. He was on O's staff at Ole Miss. He has SEC HC experience and, for better or worse, his offenses performed well, particularly vs. Bama. However, there MIGHT just be a few problems with Freeze joining the staff.....

2. Steve Sarkisian - Both were on previous USC staffs. Sark is probably going to get canned by the Falcon's after this season (if things don't improve). But a lack of success in the NFL doesn't always translate into an inability to coach the college game. Sark presumably knows the SEC and was on Saban's Shadow staff. He had good success turning UW around from a dumpster fire. He was one of USC's OC's in their heyday. Two concerns though...(1) He got the USC job whenever Ed desperately wanted it. Is there any bad blood? (2) Can he make it down Victory Hill without slugging a bottle of Evan Williams, or Grey Goose, or whatever?

3. Kevin Sumlin - VERY UNLIKELY, but he has experience as an OC. He may be relatively cheap in light of the fact A&M would still be paying him a ton of money. He knows Texas when it comes to recruiting. He knows the SECW. Generally speaking, A&M's problem hasn't been offense. BUT...does LSU want to run that type of Offense.

WTF are you going on about?

Local radio had talk about Canada leaving after this season. Whether or not that's true is irrelevant... I'm just curious who would be on the short list to replace him.

Spare us all your being a dick about people posting on a message board, and just reply with a relevant answer.

Would be impressed if Orgeron brought any of those guys into the fold as OC.

I know's there's some baggage. But if he could jettison the baggage, I would be on cloud nine with this.

Apparently (there's an anchored thread on p.2 right now) where both Hanny and Ott agreed that Canada was leaving. Maybe someone who was listening could clarify.

Well, it's essential to the Orgeron model to have top coordinators.

As a practical matter, that should require having several possible replacements in mind for both guys, in the event one leaves. If Aranda leaves to take another job (another DC, or a HC somewhere), that isn't the time to lie down and start crying "oh shite, we're fricked". You would hope he has a list of the top overall guys, a list of the most likely to come here, and probably a list of the guys most able to come in and continue Aranda's scheme.

Same should apply to the OC.
Who are the best OCs out there? Who would most likely agree to come here? And who might be able to take over Canada's scheme and build on it, so we wouldn't have to start cold again?

Adding after edit: obviously, a best case scenario is that there is at least one name that pops up on 2 of the 3 lists for each spot. It's doubtful that the best possible coordinator will carry Canada's scheme over, but if there's a guy who could run it and would likely come, he'd be a good fit. Alternatively, if someone has a different scheme but is considered great, AND he would probably come, he also would be worth looking into.

As long as the athletic department hires a full-time person whose job is to keep tabs on him in recruiting. We've run a pretty clean program and I don't want this dude to come in and start buying recruits. I'll take 9-3 every year without cheating (egregious cheating, I'm sure every major program cheats somewhat) vs tainted titles personally.

Freeze would be a home run hire. Guy is an ace recruiter even without cheating and an elite offensive mind

Why don't you just chill....big man!
Y'know, you don't have to read the thread, if you don't like the topic. There's no need to try to sabotage it by whining "oh stop it" and posting passive aggressive shite like "spare us your witty remarks" or calling someone "big man"; just load a thread you want to read. Pretty easy.

Freeze would be an interesting choice, and I had forgotten his connection to O. He definitely knows how to crack Bama's defense, and like O, he might due better at LSU, with more overall talent.

Did he just get forced out/shitcanned, or do we expect sanctions to follow him?

Thread is about replacements for coordinators. Some dude told him to shut it down, because... something.

I commented that since there is some talk about Canada leaving, it was a relevant question.
Dude came back at me with a jackass comment about "witty replies". I told him to quit being a dick and said why don't you make a relevant response to the question.

Like I said before, if you don't like the topic of the thread, then leave it be, and post on a topic you do like.

If you want to pick fights, go on the SEC Rant and antagonize somebody who roots for another team.

If neither one leaves then this experiment is likely a failure.

Some names on the D-side:
Bob Shoop - UTenn DC (was previously on staff with Franklin at Vandy/PSU). Some of the luster has probably worn off but he was the hot name two years ago.
Don Brown - DC Meechigan (I think all his experience has been up North)
Chad Glasgow - DC TCU
Odom - Mizzou HC - if he gets fired.
Pete Golding - UTSA DC (under Coach Frank) - currently top-10 in total D

Because of the money we're willing to pay our coordinators, almost everyone is in play.

Ohh well if Matt Moscona said it, it may as well have been written in gold. My apologies.
