I'm still shocked there's a Hyatt in Green Bay

Marriott has one property there and it's a dump of a Fairfield Inn that wants $399/nt.

We're staying in Milwaukee or Chicago

I would be livid over being put in a shite hotel at the same price as i was paying for a nicer one.

The HGI and Hampton in downtown GB are both pretty decent. The Hampton is definitely above average compared to other HI properties.

Not saying it's not a downgrade, but I think you're being a little dramatic on the difference.

I can't stand small town hotels for events. I've caught properties in nearly every SEC town trying to screw with my reservation because I got a good or preferred rate because their revenue manager is a moron.

Hotel in Syracuse tried to do it to me too.

I love them. They rarely see diamond members and treat me like a king. Never had a problem.

Sounds like a Marriott thing.

My issue is I'll always book exactly 50 weeks out at 1am when the rooms are released. I'll get the fully-refundable and normal rate which in these places is almost always less than $125/nt.

Revenue manager shows up in the morning to update the inventory and adds the Special Event clause. And they'll try and invoke it on mine when I attempt to make any changes.

It isn't the individual hotels fault for the overbooking error.
how is that not their fault?

Same here. Choice hotels is the number one offender in SEC towns and for me trying to get recourse is usually all but a futile effort.

Me too. Pleasant surprise. It was 5k points a night. Which is one hell of a value for a room that's $400 night.

That's what happens when you have a captive audience. They screwed you big time. Go though Hyatt corporate. They don't want the bad publicity. They will make it right,

How bad is the drive from Chicago to Green Bay? Planned to stay in Mileaukee but Chicago doesn't seem like a bad idea. And Cubs are home that wknd.

I recently had a frustrating experience with Hyatt matching my Hilton diamond status. They initially Sent me an email stating I was matched to diamond but it was addressed to wrong person...I then got platinum. I was a little ticked. I then got emailed a survey option. I explained everything there and got a prompt response...then was matched to diamond.

After you send emails, the survey response may help...they were quick and reasonable.

It'll be about three and half hours without traffic. If you leave after 1pm on a weekday it'll be closer to 4-5 hours. Its an easy drive up I-94/43, not a whole lot to see. You can stop at Mars Cheese Castle just over the Wisconsin border, a bit of a tourist trap but the New Glarus beer is very solid.
