Unless you live on the gulf coast in MS. Then, you think MS has the most to lose.

I'm 175 yards off the water in Waveland. I can't take another 35 foot storm surge and house wiped to the slab.

Let me say this...

All this is much a do about nothing so far..dam thing isn’t even in the gulf yet. Where I live in Texas we had a mayor who ordered an evacuation 4 days before the hurricane was to hit....well guess what it hit about 400 miles away from us..I was sitting there on the island I live on with all the stores closed and the threat if I left I would not be allowed back on even though everyone and their grandmother knew the dam thing wasn’t coming where we were.....Well you go though that once maybe twice and then you gonna tell your leaders like we told the former mayor...That’s bullshite.Notice I said former... When they pack up a million people and tell them to leave and they spend what they have to get out of town and nothing happens someone is going to have to pay for it....Its one thing to be too late and its another to be too early...You run people out of town and nothing happens maybe once or twice you will end up where ya were before the last one…No one wanting to leave because they have no faith in their leaders…..

I posted this on the OT Gustav thread. But the game apparently won't be cancelled too prematurely.

has anyone ordered an evacuation yet???

all our government is doing currently, is taking the storm seriously. which is what they should be. if at any point they begin to not take it seriously, the people will feel the same way. it is much harder to convince people to leave town when you told them 2 days earlier they had nothing to worry about because the storm was in Cuba still.

Now, I firmly believe that they won't evacuate until they are pretty sure that the people evacuating will be effected. But, you can do that 2-3 days prior to a Hurricane hitting and being safe.

And, as for you and your dumbass people that got rid of a politician that tried to save your lives. Would you rather spend the money and evacuate for what seems to be no reason? Or, would you rather your leadership not say a thing and then you are scrambling trying to get everything protected and getting out of dodge less than 24 hours before it hits your house?

Anyone see the pressure system pushing back East in the Gulf, this thing looks like it will stop drifting west directly South of BR and head straight North before turning East near landfall. Looks like a direct hit West of New Orleans to me.

Lsudiva, I was in the Kirby Smith dorm during Katrina. It was one of the best places to be in Baton Rouge. Power was up real fast on campus. All around LSU seemed like a priority.

my thinking was is that it'll help those wondering about the game, no real decision can be made until that thing hits the gulf, then decisions can be made, the computer models haven't really changed, at least 2 my eyes they didn't

Slackhouse I agree with you. I'm sure those people in Texas didn't want to leave and was mad they were forced out. BUT, if he didn't do it, he was doomed, ie Blanco..... Some people will never be happy, so as a leader he made his decision and errored on the side of caution. Notice our governor is not going to be caught like Blanco got caught. Anyway, my 2 pennies.

LSU vs App State, Saturday.

Bet you $10,000 game is played Saturday in Baton Rouge, no matter if/when contraflow goes into affect.

"NO MATTER IF/WHEN"...

just want to make sure we're straight Nostradamus(JPLSU1981).

So you really don't understand this? If contraflow begins Sat and they cancel game, which they will, YOU LOSE!
If it begins after the game, there is no bet, because the game will have been played, hence no interaction/effect between contraflow and the game.

he's obviously not very bright
