re: Hurd better than Floyd

Sorry Hold That Tiger, but you are wrong. Floyd had numerous chances last year and did not get the job done. Money is the same. They both have good stuff, but they can never have truly strong outings against good teams.

Ok bud. Whatever you think. I'm not going to sit here and argue with somebody that has an IQ lower than the temperature outside right now. Keep thinking that.

Wait, you don’t think it was planned to move Hurd into that weekend spot?
You're deflecting hard here.
Cooper started first, there was never any intention of keeping him there as Jay plainly stated they needed Hurd to come around which he has. He was basically taking his spot. Hurd was always seen as the next guy after Skenes who just needed to come around, but we're talking ultimately about the last starter spot after them between a number of guys.
Shores got multiple opportunities, on the weekend, to show he should stay there, ultimately they went with Floyd going into SEC play, why? It's pretty simple, he has shown he can extend and Shores hasn't. Why else do you think Shores got demoted to midweek for now? He got the weekend start against Central Conn st and got yanked in 4th inning with bases juiced after a few singles and HBP. They felt like he was breaking down, it was only a 4-0 game at that point.. He missed starting next weekend against Samford to start against UNO where he got yanked in 3rd inning of a 0-0 game after giving up a walk and double.
He's gotten quick hooks before getting into major trouble but it seems clear they haven't trusted Shores quite yet to extend which is why he isn't in the SEC rotation right now. He'll get opportunities to develop that mid-week for now but why else do you think Floyd is starting on weekend over him?

So you are saying Shores was not on a pitch count vs UNO?
Posted on 3/18/23 at 9:46 pm to Tjcajun
The ump was horrible today. No consistency calling behind the plate. He would of done much better.

I hope he was on a pitch count, because I believe he will be way more valuable to us on the weekends. But I'm also not pretending, like you, that he has had short outings every week by design. He's worked himself into issues, and the staff has pulled him out quickly. He also owes the pen a good bit of credit for keeping his ERA where it is.

I don’t think what he did vs Samford was overly impressive, no
You explicitly stated his 2 best performances this year came out the pen.
Yet somehow are trying to completely downplay the fact he had 5 no hit innings in a start. Especially when Samford is likely even better than WMU. That's just pure lunacy and you trying to backtrack on what you said. Literally NO ONE thinks 5 no hit innings isn't impressive or NOT one his top 2 outings this year but you.

If this is the case then you realize they are seeing him as a pen guy for the weekend right? If you want to be right here that's what you're arguing. After he had weekend starts and now is seen as a reliever for weekend.

He’s only started 4 games. He was pulled twice early by design and twice early because he was laboring.
He was very clearly on a pitch count vs UNO. But you are trying to argue otherwise. This is why no one takes you or thunderbird seeiously

So what's the argument here? You're saying the coaches don't see him as a weekend starter at this point after being given multiple opportunities as a starter to show that he could be, because he hasn't shown he can extend (this should be obvious). They've chosen to go with Floyd over him.

This is a message board filled with mostly morons. 99% of the time I don't take my own self seriously on here. This is a place where only people like you NEED to feel you have some self worth.

I never argued that he wasn't on a pitch count. I just highlighted the fact that you pointed out Floyd's flaws in a 5 inning no hit outing, but conveniently ignored the mess Shores was in when he was pulled from the UNO game by just saying he ended with a K.

Hurd is better than 99% of the starters in the sec not named Paul Skenes

So which is it, he was pulled a few times for getting in trouble or he was only pulled every time because it was 'by design'? You constantly change what you say

Floyd didn’t pitch bad at all. He got squeezed. I have zero reservations about him going forward. He just caught a shite ump today.

Whichever game he only faced 9 guys, SHSU I think, was by design.

Literally back to back to back starts last year:
@bama: 4.0 IP, 2 H, 5 K, 1 BB, 1 ER
Ole miss: 6.0 IP, 2 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 1 ER
@Vandy: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 7 K, 0 BB, 1 ER
That's 15.1 IP, 8 H, 15 K, 3 BB and 3 ER in a row last season

Dude, I’m not arguing with what the coaches have done. I can very much understand how they have handled him vs Floyd. That’s what I understood he was on a pitch count vs UNO so he could pitch this weekend.
The only thing I’ve argued is the false shite you have said about his outings.
Everything else is simply my opinion. I think Floyd would be more valuable out of the pen. And I don’t think you miss much if Shores is inserted as a starter for him. That’s it.

Oh I know he had pitch count games, I'm laughing at Lester for originally arguing he was never 'allowed' to extend in any start because it was always 'by design' which he's already backtracked on.
