Floyd has shown he can strike guys out. Shores hasn’t.

Ya which is why he is preferable as a reliever vs Shores

Floyd’s two best outings this year have come from out of the bullpen.

And he has never been one to pitch deep into games anyway

By design my arse lol I’ve watched every game. He’s gotten pulled because of walks and teams squaring him up. Mid week is perfect for him to get in the groove

He's about to tell you that you just can't see what he's seeing because you don't know baseball like he does. Same way he did when he tried to tell us that Dugas couldn't play second base.

The Shores strikeout numbers will come, and they will come quickly. He'll be a wipeout guy by mid season, I just don't know if that'll be as a starter or bullpen guy this year. I don't think Wes has really figured him out yet, but he will. FWIW, I don't think Wes has figured Floyd out yet either.

I agree. I do think that’s what will catapult him into the rotation, but he’s not there yet.

Floyd would better than Shores doubling up on a weekend IMO.

This crew is 0/2 behind the plate. Last night was expected with Head back there. He needs to hang it up. We just lucked out last night because they had no chance at hitting 99-100.

Shores has a .79 ERA and his outing length has been by design

The last part of this is completely false, why make up stuff when its so obviously wrong?

You seriously think through 4 starts now they haven't WANTED to extend him past the middle of the 4th inning? Really?

He's had his struggles, that's why he's gotten taken out, it never got ugly but that's why he was taken out was starting to show the signs of breaking down in some games.

They would absolutely love to see 5-6 full innings from Shores he just hasn't gotten there yet and that's on him, not 'by design'.

Things can change very quickly though, he will get there, its just a matter of time, but you are covering up for him for whatever reason.

Agreed. aTm had some luck as well. They weren’t making solid contact. I’m not defending Floyd but he wasn’t bad today and I thought he pitched pretty good. We wouldn’t be having this conversation if we executed the first two times with the bases loaded.

Ell, everyone is very much overreacting. One rune was a wild pitch. Not gonna happen often, assuming it was not a mistake by Neal. Second run below was literally an excuse me swing the dribbled to Morgan.

I understand that you cannot just take things out of the game, but these are both things that simply do not happen very often. Floyd is good.

It's splitting hairs right now.

Nah. Hurd has looked better than Floyd all year. Floyd is a solid Sunday guy, and Hurd is a top notch Saturday guy. CJJ knows it, and he will get it aligned soon.

We will beat a lot of teams on Sunday with Floyd.

I love shores but I just don’t know where you guys think this wipeout strikeout pitch is going to come from this year for him. Right now he can’t miss a bat for strike three and doesn’t have a soft contact kinda pitch, which doesn’t translate well to being a weekend starter

Hurd was struggling prior to the season starting. It’s why Shores was Sunday instead of him. He’s worked his way back in it and Jay has said he needs to be in our rotation if we are going to have the success we want, but that doesn’t mean Floyd has been bad or doesn’t deserve the weekend. He’s been great until today when he ran into an umpire that adds 5-6 runs per game on his own.

Realistically he would have given up 2-3 if he didn’t completely screw up an easy double play.

Floyd is a good starter, I think he likely finishes the season on sundays and Hurd on saturdays

It’s not made up, literally heard Johnson say it. Sam Houston was planned as was his UNO start. Jay wanted to throw him multiple innings Sunday vs Lamar but lsu blitzed them late for a mercy rule.

The other two starts were laborious but he did not get the benefit of continuing like a veteran would have under any normal circumstances.

No he’s not. He has improved his offspeed quite a bit. Floyd is a legit starter now.

Link it up, I would believe a game or two that was thecase but not all 4 starts, no way. They obviously want to try an extend a guy who is trying to be a weekend starter past the 4th inning at SOME point. He lost his weekend spot for now because he couldn't extend, bottom line. It's pretty obvious.

Seems to me Floyd’s worst enemy is himself. He gets discouraged easily and it fricks with his game.
