Skipped orientation, got drunk, went swimming in this building in the late summer of 1994. What a glorious day!

It was in rough shape back then, but it felt like going way back in time and was very cool!

The Field House was quite the gathering place in ‘47. In the back left corner towards the pool there was a piano. Seems this fellow was forever there playing the catchy tunes of the day always with a crowd around. When I got to know him he confided he hoped to graduate in 7 years.

They filled in the pool? That place was in disrepair back in the early 80s but I always liked the pool. It was longer than a competition length pool.

I can't stop laughing at the stoned tiger mosaic.

I had a couple classes in that building and don't remember seeing this.

You must be a Landscape Architect.
I spend 2 1/2 years there getting my MLA.

Removing the Middleton library will be pretty incredible to see in the Quad

The last thing I want to go is copy Ole Miss, but that open area would be a great grove type tailgating area. Same when Lockett is gone.

You want tailgating in the Quad? Good grief.

Isn't Long the fellow who created the Win or Lose Corporation? You know, the company that leased all of the land owned by the State of Louisiana to oil companies paying royalties as high as 27.5 per cent to the Win or Lose Corporation.

Or ultimately Huey P. Long and his progeny.

It pays to be shady!!

I worked as a lifeguard there my first couple years at LSU during the late 90s. It is a pretty cool structure with so much history. I’m glad that they have restored it.

Pool was cool and everything, but it being a nice green space now that people can actually use is much better than a run down empty pool.

If people want to swim they can go to the UREC.

Happy to see this, though I wish they had saved the pool. Spent alot of the 80s playing floor hockey in the gym and raquetball in the dungeon (and exploring the pool, etc). Longsticks forever!

I played floor hockey there in the 80’s too. Small world…and you’re old.

Roll call as to who can say he swam in that pool. I'm recalling that circa 2002 it was already closed.

I believe the Latin around the tiger head reads Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body. ASICS is an acronym for a slightly different version of this axiom in Latin.

They demoed the structure on the west end, filled in the pool, and now it’s going to be a nice open area and along with thd sres north of the PMAC and east of the Gymnastics Facility makes a very nice open area.

This is why Mann bitching about the library annoys me.

We’re doing meaningful renovations and new construction on campus.

They finally renovated the old, run down Engineering Shops south of the Quad. They were in bad shape.
