So have I, and this is completely false.

Just curious, but what road games have you been to? I've been to about 20 road games in the past 6 years and I've always had people commenting on how well we travel.

This.

When up in Seattle for the UW game, everyone was talking about how well we traveled. They also said about how well we ate, drank and tipped, among other things. Talking with many up in Seattle, they would love to see us back up there.

Judging by the color the fans were wearing I would have guessed 90-10 A&M. But I'm sure it was more like 80-20.

Seriously, they outnumbered us by a vast margin

THANK YOU!!

And to Destrehan Tiger, I have been to every bowl game since the 2002 Cotton Bowl, and have been to every road game except Florida this year, Washington last year, and in 2008 I didn't go to Auburn.

I don't know why you're not seeing what I'm seeing. Maybe you're biased, I don't know.

In the end, it doesn't really matter. If we have 20,000 fans go to Oxford, that doesn't put any points on the board. I just wanna know why we don't travel as well as Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, etc. Maybe it's because those places are shitholes and people are dying for a temporary change.

you have no clue how well anyone else really travels because you don't travel with those teams. i don't know what you're expecting. Outside of some of those legendary Nebraska traveling stories to ND and Southern Cal I've always heard LSU put up with the best, and I'll say I've never seen a fanbase come to Baton Rouge like what I experienced in Tuscaloosa in 07 or Georgia in 09. The other times I've traveled have been great as well, but those were outrageous with the number of LSU people.

Also I'm not sure where those big ten schools send their graduates but LSU graduates stay in LA or go west, and yet all of our games are to the east. There are also vastly larger Alumni bases at those schools than at LSU. I've also never heard of those schools traveling incredibly, and certainly not better than LSU.

LSU had just as many fans in the cotton bowl as Ohio State had in the sugar

I doubt it. Perhaps your perception of LSU is a bit inflated and you think we should fill up half of every road stadium.

Since you went to every game but Florida this year, you noticed half of the Georgia dome filled with Tiger fans. You also witnessed basically 85% of the LSU side of the field in Nashville filled with Tiger fans. I couldn't tell how filled it was in Auburn since I was in the 3rd row and couln't see the upper deck. You also should remember the third deck in UGA in 09 being entirely LSU.

Also, of course OSU travelled well to the BCSNCCG. It was the title game and it was in New Orleans, a big tourist destination. This is no different than when LSU went crazy preordering tickets during the 06 season when we thought we were going to the Rose Bowl.

You don't have to travel with those teams to know how well they travel. If you watch the games on television, read websites that estimates their turn out, or have them take over your town (like when Ohio State came to Austin in 2006), you will know.

I was impressed with LSU's Tuscaloosa turn out in 07, but UGA in 2009? Not very impressive. I estimate we had 5-6,000 which isn't terrible, but I expect better. We also had a really good turn out for Ole Miss in 2007.

Nebraska fans travel really well too, I left them out. So yeah, I do my research, and that gives me a "clue."

We're not the worst, but I just expect more from LSU fans when it comes to traveling. We are No. 1 at tailgating, No. 1 in home crowd noise, so why can't we be at least No. 15 in travel?

If you think we travel well, you are a delusional homer who doesn't actually go to away games.

LSU filled up the entire 3rd deck at a stadium 9 hours away. I don't know what more you could ask for.

even if we don't travel "the best" to say we don't even travel well is pretty absurd....

Not true. There were a lot of Tiger fans in the 3rd deck, but not entirely filled.

You saw the Cotton Bowl. I'm not saying it should have been 50-50, but it should have at least been 60-40 and it wasn't. It was 70-30.

You saw the Arkansas game. Crappy turnout.

Vandy was impressive.

UNC in Atlanta was ok.

Auburn was one of the worst turnouts I have seen since 2000. Auburn fans invaded the LSU section. It was like we sold our tix to them.

Let's move on to the Oregon game. What do you feel will be a decent turnout? Whatever number you give, I guarantee we won't meet it.

the UGA allotment is ~10K and we sold it out, plus all of the people who traveled without tickets. I'd say 12-15 is much closer to reality than 5-6.

I'd love to know what fan base you've ever witnessed come in to Baton Rouge and travel what you would consider acceptable?

I don't know what configuration they will use (80k or 100k) so I will just say LSU will have >55%. I don't even think the game is a fair argument for me to use to say LSU does travel well because I feel like everyone I know has expressed an interest in going. The true barometer for how well LSU travels will be the wvu game.

The cost of the UO game, the excitement already building about it, plus the distance to WVU makes that a real strain. I think we travel very well, but I'd be surprised if TAF is turning down any ticket requests to that game.

I will say that anyone thinking UO tickets will be cheaper than Cotton bowl tickets is fooling themselves and hasn't paid any attention to what Jerry Jones charges for tickets in that stadium to any event.

they were 75-150 for the TCU/OSU game, what I can find it looks to be a bit more for Ark/A&M tickets. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see ticket prices be exactly the same as the Cotton Bowl, with maybe a bit more differentiation between levels than for the Cotton Bowl.

Any team that can take 25,000+ fans to Seattle Washington from Louisiana cannot be accused of traveling lightly. That was a massive invasion.

As many have tried to tell you, A&M had much advanced notice of the Cotton Bowl bid.

In the SEC the Bama fans hold all the tickets to the SEC CG thanks to being grandfathered in when the tourney was first held in B'ham.

The Florida Bowls are a logistic nightmare for Tiger fans. It's no wonder the SEC e and Bama teams turn out better when they are 500 miles closer.

LSU travels just fine. Ever been to an Indy Bowl or Sugar Bowl? How about the turnout for LSU vs UNC in Atlanta this year? I'd say it was pretty damned awesome.

As one who CAN NEVER get tickets to road games from LSU, someone is doing the traveling in huge numbers.
