Glad I’m not the only one swearing some of those late game “balls” were strikes.

The announcers said if he had caught it it would have been a strike. WTF does that mean?

This is one of the oldest axioms in baseball. Basically a punishment on the catcher. I'm not defending it...but if you've coached or played baseball long enough, it's basically understood.

Because Neal completely missed the ball. He didn’t bobble it. You don’t see that very often and when you do it’s a ball. Same in MLB. Probably a missed sign but that shite can happen.

It was definitely close. The announcers were saying if Neal handled it and shifted up w catch probably a strike.

It’s crazy to me how much influence the catcher has on the ump calling balls and strikes.

Tacky you are absolutely correct. Top of 7 he called 3 straight pitches that were strikes as balls and let UNC start a tall and close the gap. There were many other blown calls when he completely changed his zone, mostly in their favor.

Hard to get a call on a close low strike like that when the catcher doesn’t catch it

Neal’s bat out now but Milazzo is significantly better back there.

Big Laz has been pretty good at the plate as of late

I caught for ten years and can confirm that set up and framing affects plenty of marginal calls. That dude claiming otherwise is misinformed.

Gotta squeeze it. If he does. It’s called a strike. Not that I agree but that’s a thing.

Ump shite the bed all night. His zone was about 3 inches off to his right until the 6th inning when anything started going. Didn’t affect the outcome but it left a lot to be desired.

It wasn’t close or marginal though it went from his belt to mid thigh at the point of the plate. It was a perfect strike.
