Only the “ this is his dream job” and “he’s one of us” crowd we’re happy. Most knew he was a bad head coach

I think that people considered Les to be such an idiot that O couldn’t possibly screw it up. “LSU recruits itself”, “anyone can win here”. People forgot their history…..or just never knew it.

Les was never this bad

I think that he is very under appreciated. He came in at an awful time and got the team winning again. There are not enough superlatives to describe the 2019 season. That was under his supervision. IMO he is another Covid casualty. Pelini was a bad hire. The guys he’s hired this year are great schematically but need to grow into calling games. I don’t think he gets another year. I also think it’s because with his accent and nodules he comes off as a fool…..but he is definitely not.

With the exception of maybe one or two people, this entire board saw through it.

O wasn’t a popular hire. Most of us thought it was a huge risk and he was a back up plan for Alleva, who panicked when he couldn’t get Jimbo or Herman.

He was primarily popular to the people who lived in the Bayou parishes. Outside of the rest of Louisiana, he wasn’t all that popular.

Les would still be the head coach if he would of let go control of the offense. He may have been an odd individual but his teams always came to play and hit opposing teams dead in the mouth. Now they rarely show any fight and get beat in the trenches left and right on both sides of the ball.

Not me, I didn't like the hire when it happened. I supported him to the point of well they made a choice and I hope it works because I support LSU but at no point did I think it was the best thing for LSU.

we were so elated to get rid of Miles we didn't think straight, though I wasn't for O but preferred O over Miles. I didn't want Herman either.

an’t speak for everyone, but I remember being somewhat happy after we lost to Florida in 2016 because I thought it meant that at least Coach O would not get the job. Then, I remember him being announced as the coach the next day and I screamed Noooo at the top of my lungs. I think the stupid fans were happy because he was “one of us.” I don’t think he was a popular hire and be careful listening to the vocal minority.
agreed- I felt exactly the same way. I think the majority of fans posting here anyway were very disappointed.

Woodard would have never, ever, hired coach O. Too many immature temper tantrums at USC. ONLY A 10-25 record at Ole Miss. 10 wins, 25 losses. Alleva hired him to on Cajun emotions. Be careful what you wish for.

Many many people said that they didn’t support it and said they were eating crow in 2019/20. Many did. Many people can assess life well enough to realize that Ed Orgeron is not a bright man, very similar to someone who does the same manual labor everyday in shrimp/crab/crawfish/oyster harvesting or oil and gas. Not someone who is adaptable, quick on his feet, and knows how to formulate a brilliant game plan. Stereotypes exist because 95% of the time, they’re true.

I hated the hire in 2017. I was shocked in 18 and 19 and thought maybe it’s not that hard to be a great coach just need good athletes.

We have to get a respectable man as a coach. Not a clown and a shrimp captain. It shows how low class LSU ADs were at the time. The loser mentality of Louisiana was so ingrained in ADs that it was just natural to select Miles and Orgeron. We have to have a guy you’d want running the company you work for. That’s the only way to do it. There’s seemingly a number of them. Just gotta figure out who’s real and who is fools gold.

He really wasn't a TD favorite when he was selected. It seemed like Jimbo and Herman were the leading candidates.
