The difference during the losing streak is line and qb play

This years defense should be mean and nasty. They should have 4 goals on each play, if it moves hit it, if it's standing knock it down, if it's got the ball take it. If it's trying to score stop it. Offense is ready to breakout into at least the 20 th century and they should run every play with the idea if we can't go over it or around it, we just go thru it. Bama got exposed in the bowl game, with all that talent and no SEC officials Clemson pile drove them. Clemson had a good defense and a good offense, and a great game plan. They didn't play scared, they used all the field. This year is the beginning of a new era of LSU owning the SEC. Sorry if I rambled or my typing skills suck, I just woke up and not finished with my 1st Dr. Pepper. El Campo tiger I used to work at the nuke plant in your part of the world. Any way

If we are going to steal one of the road this is the year. Bama losing the stud NT that destroyed us for 4 quarters and the majority of that Oline. I know they will just reload but the offense will not be as good without those 3 studs of the OL and they also lose 2 really good backs. On defense they lose their best DB and 2 LBs from an already thin LB group. Don't get me wrong Bama will still be loaded and the likely favorite to win it all but this years team won't be as good as last years.

we lost 29-0, and that was in Baton Rouge!

TS has rarely provided us with a homefield advantage the last 10 years or so.

I agree with everything you said except...

Also, the defense was disappointing last year against them. 7.6 ypc ain't cutting it.

I don't want to hear that. I don't want to hear anything about the defense. LSU could have held Alabama to just 1 point, 2 out of the last 3 times LSU has played them and LSU still would have lost.

What do you expect the defense to do? Hold them to negative points?

This has always been about LSU's ancient, uncreative, machismo offense that plays right into Alabama's hands. And no, Ensminger calling a forward pass doesn't change that. Having a dynamic offense has nothing to do with throwing the ball. It's how the plays are designed, run or pass.

Matt Canada had the right idea, so of course LSU ran him off. Can't have any of that newfangled, candy-arse offense we don't understand down here.

Talent gap has closed a little bit. By November our freshman running backs will be playing. Big difference. We finally have a true nose tackle. Two of them. And our pass rush OLB back. 8 offensive starters back. And if we can keep him healthy a QB good enough for us to compete.

Beating Bama in T town will be all about the line of,scrimmage again. Has our Oline gotten good enough to at least get a stand-off. Will Joe Brady RPO give us an edge.

For one, have our O line show up and not get demolished. At least hold serve. We'll have difference makers at RB also. And hit Tua - our D should be better able to get after him this year.

Oh no! Catastrophe syndrome.
Not many, including me, thought we could stay on the field with UGa last year. shite happens.
The two years Ole Miss beat Bama they were not more talented.
Here are the reason LSU can win.
1) Our defense is going to be good. Fulton will have another year and we won't skip a beat with Stingley replacing Greedy. Clemson showed how to stymie Bama's O.
2) We return a proven, tough leader and capable QB in Burrow who will running a new scheme. We return an experienced, talented receiving corp. Emery should be an upgrade at RB.
3) I think LSU will approach the Bama game with a different attitude than in the past and won't play tentative on offense. Fortune favors the brave.
4. Bama lost a lot in the draft this year and they have an entire new coaching staff.
5. Tua is not God as he showed in the NC game.

We play them better in Tuscaloosa.

Lost his entire offensive staff, will be a new offense, and Venebles showed his weaknesses in the title game. (and UGA in the SECCG to an extent)

No we aren't, especially not this year. We're stacked.

LSU beat Mississippi State 14 times in a row.

Maybe that’s how many times Bama is supposed to beat us.

You don't think they were trying to do this before?

Look man, Bama is going to score on you. That's just a fact of life. You have to turn them over a couple of times and get some stops. If you do that, mission accomplished on that end.

Quite frankly the defense did a good enough job last game. The offense was completely to blame for that loss.

It would help if our staff was humble enough to learn from those who have.

To juxtaposed our game vs Bama and Clemson's game vs them just underscores how poorly coached we were. Or let me state it another way: we are not going to recruit our way to compensate for a 29 pt differential vs Bama. Nor should we have to.

So to start:
- From the very first snap in game 1, our O should be set on a trajectory that by the time we play Bama, they have to cover the whole field every snap. Tendencies are out the window.
- Have an advantage on STs - this is doable.
- On D, Dave needs to earn his pay. He's got a lot talent to work with.

It was the same with Les Miles after the first 3 seasons.
