It sucks that they are playing this particular season. It’d be great if they could both win out, making one of our wins better and one of our losses better. So I’m not sure what the committee would weigh heavier, a dominant road win in the Swamp against an 8-4 Florida team or a 1st game of the season and Kelly’s tenure loss to a 9-3 Florida State team.

I think they typically weigh wins more than losses, and we’d already have maybe the best 3 of any team in CFB if we beat undisputed #1 Georgia in Atlanta in the SECCG and a (likely and hopefully) 10-2 Bama and 10-2 Ole Miss, both of whom should finish in or close to the top 10 in the final CFP poll. But a win over 8-4 Florida would be a nice 4th win. But that would make 1 of our losses to an, at best, 8-4 FSU team. Would the committee prefer that or a win over a 7-5 Florida team and a loss to a 9-3 FSU?

It may be a push and not matter in the end, but I just remembered they play to finish the season and wasn’t sure if anybody had talked about it yet. What do y’all think?

It may not, but y’all are delusional if you think there’s no way an 11-2 LSU CAN get left out. We need some things to go our way—mainly TCU losing—but regardless, the committee is going to have to justify putting the 1st 2-loss team in ever.

it will have zero bearing. the only thing that has bearing is LSU over the next three or four games.

The fact you started this thread is surprising to me. You're typically one of the more level headed posters here.

Playing the what if game with this much season left? I mean, everyone should be satisfied winning the game Saturday, much less running the table.

We're no Goliath, but Arkansas can definitely be David with an 11am start in 37* weather, coming off being embarrassed and LSU the high of all highs.

The SEC champion will be in the final 4. That’s a fact.

Agreed

And the odds of LSU being that team are roughly around 10% as of now

Not to diminish what LSU has done, but to be worried about the outcome of other games?

I agree but Florida/FSU doesn't matter. This isn't the computers anyway. All that matters is that we win out and some of TCU/Oregon/USC/Michigan/Ohio State/Tennessee frick up somewhere.
The committee is trying to look the other way from the FSU loss

Not a fact. First of all, LSU could lose another game and then win the SEC championship. Secondly, we would never pass an undefeated TCU team. A one loss Ohio State would be debatable, and if it’s between us and Tennessee, that would be a tough call. Having one loss more than them, and getting blown out at home, versus the value of being SEC championship and having an extra game in which we beat Georgia. I think we should get in if that were to occur, but I don’t think anyone knows what the committee will do in these controversial situations.

I think the result of this will affect the CFP rankings to a similar degree that a gnat flying head on into a bullet train would affect said train's velocity.

We are 100% in control of our destiny. We don’t need to rely on anyone for anything.

But I would like TCU to lose

UF and FSU have nothing to do with us at this point

The help we need is not from this game. We have to win out, and need TCU to lose. It would also help us if Oregon, USC and UCLA all lose a game, if Oregon or USC run the table impressively they might be ahead of us because of only one loss

FSU closing strong certainly wouldn’t hurt. I think UF is a lost cause, but FSU winning out and looking good will push them up the polls a bit and that would make the opening loss look a little better to the committee.

There are things we need more than this to help our cause, but an FSU win is what we want in this one.

I tend to agree. And it’s not like I’m “worried” about it, just curious and wanted to discuss a different topic that hasn’t seem to be mentioned.

This is the ONLY website where people are assuming we get in at 11-2 no matter what. I’ve listened to and read a ton of national sports guys today, and they all think we need help and currently do not control our own destiny except in relation to winning the SEC. Because, as much as you don’t want to accept it, we objectively do not.

It is a question of degree, not kind.
