How often do we play Tulane in basketball?

I'm excited about the upcoming scrimmage against them since it'll be one of the few chances I get to see the boys play since I moved to NOLA. My only question is in this article released by LSU about the scrimmage it seems to have some very confusing information on the history of the series. It says the last time we played officially was in 1974 then proceeds to say the last time we played officially was in 2008 later in the article. Anyone care to clarify any info they have on the series?

Even though it is an exhibition game, the last official meeting between the two schools took place in 1974 in Tulane’s on-campus arena.

The teams last officially met in New Orleans in 2008 with the Green Wave getting a 68-63 victory at the Smoothie King Center.

We used to play them regularly it seemed like during Brady's days. 2008 we played them for sure I want to say the night before or a couple before we played tOSU in the BCSNCG

We played them home and home even after their departure from the SEC through the 1980-1981 season.
Ironically they came to Baton Rouge the following season for the first round of the "post-season" NIT and pounded us pretty good.
We can get all balled up about football is no longer played, but there is no reason to not play them once a year in basketball.

We played the UNO/Tulane/LSU Tourny in the late 90s and 2000s. I think Tack Minor was on the team the last time I can remember, and we played in the Smoothie King Center in NOLA.

Tulane got all mad about the football deal but there's no reason not to play them in hoops every year like baseball. You could play in BR one year and NO the next. My guess is similar to football, Tulane wants game on campus whereas LSU wants it in Smoothie King Center to get more fans.

Looks like they made an edit to that first quote:

Since then, the teams met in the Louisiana Superdome and the New Orleans Arena/Smoothie King Center and in Baton Rouge. The teams did play a closed scrimmage in Fogelman at one point in the Trent Johnson era at LSU.

I went to the Tulane athletics website, purchased and printed tickets for the exhibition. I will be driving into N.O. for the game from BR. Is there parking available for the Devlin Fieldhouse? Any other suggestions for someone driving in from BR for the game?

I work for Tulane Athletics. Parking will be in Loyola parking garage on Freret Street.

Played Tulane (1982) and UNO (1983) in back-to-back-years in the PMAC in the postseason NIT and lost to both.
Used to play them both regularly in regular season. Quit playing Tulane in regular season after 1980-81 season because their coach, Roy Danforth, thought Dale Brown was running up the score on them.

Again, like with football, what does LSU get from playing tulane in basketball? Starting with Roy Dansworth (?) tulane has historically screwed LSU when it comes to money specifically & in general, such as when Dansworth put out old, used basketballs for LSU's shootaround. And if I am not mistaken, Dansworth once walked up behind Dale, touched his head & claimed he'd always wanted to touch the "savior of La. basketball". Screw tulane. They serve absolutely no purpose for LSU's athletic programs.

I remember losing to them in New Orleans several years ago.

We should be playing in state schools every year. Teams like Tulane and USL should always be on our hoops schedule. Wade also needs to bring back the Sugar Bowl classic with schools like Georgetown and UNC.

Again, tell me why LSU should be playing tulane & USL? LSU gains absolutely nothing by it. And both schools have shite on LSU on various occasions over the years.

A few more fans in the seats. Beats playing Alcorn State.

I'm in favor of playing Tulane in FB and hoops. I wish we could something out where we play them 2 for 1 in Baton Rouge and then the dome football and then I'm fine with home and home for basketball. Rather play them than Nicholls State or USL.

When you consider some of the non conf opponents we've played recently those two teams are a step up and absolutely do something for our RPI plus it's a recruiting tool. We've lost a lot of solid college basketball players to both those teams over the past 20 years most of them Nola or Laffeyette area players. Most power 5 top State teams play their upper level in state teams and it works well for them. Why shouldn't we trade Mcneese for Tulane or USL for southeastern?
