re: How much worse is the b-ball program now then when Brady left?

This program is in the same state as when Brady arrived. If the new coach comes in, meets with the players, and half leave as happened when Brady arrived, we could be beginning next season with five scholarship players and a group of walkons. It was time for Brady to go, but he left the program, talent wise, in better shape than did Brown or TJ.

I think the program is in terrible shape. We have an insanely thin team due to the former coach seemingly thinking empty chairs wins games.
We've got guys who seems to not know a damn thing about fundamental basketball, like passing the ball consistently and cleanly.
Not to mention fan support is dead. Most people think the games are a huge bore, and they truly are at times.
Can't wait to have new blood running this program.

The must not want to ever go to the Final Four.
What has Brady done since his lone Final Four run to make TCU or any other major conference program think he would ever do this again? Has he even brought one of his team's back to the NCAA tournament since then? It would appear TCU made the same decision LSU did -- past accomplishments don't mean much in the here and now, and Trent Johnson, compared to Brady, is a better present-day coach to lead its program.

He'd leave ASU in a heartbeat and we'd help him pack.

Not much worse, but just a different mess than Brady left. When Brady left, the team was in APR jail, nd TJ dug us out of the NCAA's ill graces. He did it by pretty much recruiting a bunch of barely adequate talent. The talent level is much lower, but we actually have scholarships to offer.
So, both leave a mess, just a different mess.
Both finished dead last about half of the time, and outside of one glorious year in 2005, neither had any postseason success to write home about. In fact, what is Brady's legacy if Mitchell doesn't hit that three pointer in the first round? Brady was one buzzer beater away from only winning one tourney game in 11 years (though that buzzer beater keyed a run to the Final Four).
Both were awful for the program and I'm glad both are gone. Arguing which crappy coach was crappier is a waste of time. I chose TJ because at least he was a classy guy who tried to run a classy program -- with predictably poor oncourt results.

TJ was the best coach we have had in a long while.
Really, you serious?

After 4 yrs of TJ our talent level is the worse ive seen n 30 yrs and the program is in the shitter.
Neither Brady nor Johnson were performing at a level worth keeping. In my opinion, if you look at the decline of LSU's basketball program from the hiring of John Brady to today, it is an feast of inconsistency that averages out to an approximately linear downward progression with a consistent slope through both tenures. Yes, the program is worse off now than it was after Brady, and the decay under Johnson was at about the same rate as the decay under Brady.
What this situation really drives home to me is just how invaluable a hire like Gerry DiNardo really is. If he had been another Trent Johnson, our football program would have become even more irrelevant than our basketball program is now.
I wasn't sorry to see him go, but I'm damn glad he came. Now we just need to go find us a basketball DiNardo (at LEAST!).

Yeah Baloo was on a roll there then hit a patch of ice and crashed in the third paragraph.

Far worse - Brady was a competent talented coach that took over a reeling program and performed admirably during his tenure.
The kind of morons that hated Brady are the same stupid people telling all us Flynn supporters that JR was a sure bet all pro to be because he could throw a ball 70 yards from his knees, with or without cough syrup.
The dish du jour at this place is crow.

didn't we just lose 1 scholarship for 1 yr because of the APR deal?
