Jd is the starter and leader of the team.

If nuss plays any meaningful snaps, itll be because jd got hurt.

The answer to that question relies entirely on JD5….

Was completely against that idea last year but I’d be 100% in favor of it this year. If JD is struggling, there is zero reason to keep trying with him. He can’t “improve for next season” as he has no eligibility left so there would be zero reason to not cut the cord with him and give the guy likely to be the starter next year some serious play time.

I'm not sunshine pumping JD5, but I think Nuss playing time decreases if JD5 starts putting up crazy numbers and gets in the Heisman race for real.

I mean yeah. It kind of should. Do you know what 2 Heisman trophy QBs in less than 5 seasons would do for our QB recruiting in the future?

I can see more of a Flynn/RP situation. I definitely think Nuss will get meaningful snaps and there will be games that he would probably be more effective, ie a team that has trouble covering the deep ball.

He needs to play meaningful snaps in every game.

And the leash for JD needs to be super short - I was disheartened reading that Nuss hadn’t been taking any 1st team reps in camp. This should be a true competition.

See Alabama for the answer.

I’ll bite.

Why does this need to happen?

By the end of the first play from snap involving a pass, this board will erupt and demand Nuss if JD misses the read on an open receiver downfield

Because the moron who posted that strongly dislikes Daniels and hopes he fails. Sad, but true.

I know.

I wanted to see if he’d give an actual answer besides what he’s been doing for the last year.

I have my doubts that he will.

Because Nuss is a more talented and aggressive passer, and if we were to get down multiple scores with the offense performing like it did against Auburn or Arkansas I’d rather see us make a change and try to win with our offense instead of hoping Koy Moore and/or Harold Perkins bails us out.

You always need the backup QB at some point

He’s got the better arm. I’ll give you that. More talented? We’ll disagree on that. And I know the kid.

Basically you’re saying the same stuff you’ve been saying, can’t give a better reason why Daniels “needs to be on a short leash.”

I think Kelly has better judgment than both you and I.

aggressive passer,

And because of this he’s been prone to throw interceptions.

I’m expecting both players to improve this season. It’s ok to cheer for both quarterbacks. Crazy, I know.

Saying that Daniels needs “to be on a short leash” and that you “were disheartened” hardly suggests you’re pulling for him. You’ve been clamoring for Nuss to start since last season.

I played college basketball and everyone has "off-games" where they struggle. And sometimes just to sit and watch for a series or two may be a good idea to reset.

JD had the second best season an LSU QB has ever had last year and you frickers are still dying to see the backup. Wonder why?

Daniels had a great 3-game stretch: Florida, OM, Bama.

But yes I wanted to insert Nuss against Auburn and Arkansas, who absolutely shut down JD5. No one was going to succeed vs Tenn with the oline situation.

If Koy Moore doesn’t experience karma or Perkins doesn’t go HAM we lose those two games with our QB under 90 yards passing and a gunslinger on the bench.

Also maybe we have a fighting chance against UGA if Kelly isn’t so hard-headed as to play a one-legged QB for an entire half.

Who gives a frick. We have a Heisman candidate and you idiots just want the back up in. LSU has had IN HISTORY four QBs in heisman talks. Two only in serious discussions. Yet you idiots want to throw that once in a lifetime opportunity to cheer that on away because all your football knowledge tells you the back up is better. And we want to bash kids from running from this fan base. Bunch of pure idiots.

Auburn: 8/20 80 0:0
Arkansas: 8/15 86 0:1

2009 called it wants its QB play back.
