Very... I wished that we could have gotten Baby Briles...That Air Raid offense with a Power Run is perfect for what our state produces alot of... ATHLETES... WR's and guys that are great in space. His fathers offense basically took Baylor, BAYLOR! to top ten finishes... Kiffen raved about his offensive accumen... Alleva blocked it...

and Agree, its the unknown with ensminger that has me uneasy... its hard to get mad at the guy because he bleeds purple and gold and loves the guys... I think it was a tough position to put him in...

It was always Ensminger after Kiffin took the FAU job.

Canada should have been retained one more year with the understanding that the dline coach be hands off of the offense.

Every head coach meddles in the offense. That's part of the job. Any OC who wants total autonomy really wants to be a head coach.

But I'm not sure it was bad Orgeron tried to limit Canada's offense because Candada's offense simply wasn't working. The offensive line was getting destroyed, the team took too many penalties, and we weren't moving the ball at all. Oh yeah, and we lost to Troy. After Ogregon started to meddle and limit the pre-snap motions, the team won a lot more and looked far better on offense.

Defending Canada is a weird hill to die on. The mistake was not meddling, it was hiring a coach without knowing what his offensive philosophy was.

Maybe a little more but comfort, fit, ability to coach up the qb is crucial. O doesn’t have the leash to go shopping yearly untill he finds a stud. E has experience and has had success albeit 20 years ago. He is a former qb at LSU and can recruit. Let’s see what happens but imo it was understandable why he chose E.

I would just like a HC coach who does what he says he’s gonna do and doesn’t try to cover it up with more lies like Ensminger has always been the best available OC.

Disclosure: Didn't want O hired!

His intent was to hire Kiffin which should have happened had Nick not vetoed it by getting Lane the job at FAU. Lane at LSU would have been a "grand slam" and made everyone with any sense happy.
So then Ed had to try to make a big splash with someone else. He didn't know Canada but tried him. I loved the idea of Canada's offense and with an adequate QB it would have been very productive for us. But he was a prick in the coaches room and Ed and Aranda both hated him. Plus Ed didn't trust his calls in tight situations. And it is Ed's neck on the line every game.

So by now he is gun shy and wants someone who he can trust. That's how we end up with Steve E. O trusts him. Steve has coached QBs well through the years. And his philosophy is fairly wide open and somewhat innovative, as we saw during his stint as Interim OC when he took over the Cam offense and only had time to make minor twiks.

My prediction: If Burrow can throw as accurately as Mett during his SR season, and shows a little better mobility than Mett, our offense will be exciting and produce 30 pts/game avg. And we will score >10 against Alabama!

Isn't all of that stuff supposed to be realized during the hiring process? It doesn't make you a little uneasy about the hires made this season?

Etling was more than adequate, btw.

Aww. How cute. Thanks, sweetie. I’m flattered that I prompted you to openly display your pettiness and lack of intelligence simultaneously.

I'm glad we are going back to a more traditional pro-style offense. I hate RPO shotgun every play.

How did that work out for the genius O?

It’s kinda like going to Chip Kelly and saying “hey the players aren’t getting it so slow down and huddle up between snaps.”

O fundamentally didn’t understand the offense

No the players didn't fundamentally understand the offense.

So now Canada is at chip Kelly's level.

I guess your solution is to continue to attempt to run an offense that the players didn't know.

Seems like O had no fricking idea what it was about. They way he’s trashing it now.

Ducking

It’s an analogy, and you have no answer to it.

Opposed to switch to one they didn’t spend the last 6 months learning.

Yeah you keep running the offense so you can learn it.

Have you never learned anything?

Can't be serious. No D-1 QB is adequate if he cannot throw the intermediate pass consistently. And Etling couldn't do it at all. That's why we took it off the game play sheet.

He consistently over/under threw the post or out routes. This causes interceptions and lost downs. So for two years we didn't call those routes. Not at all. Completely avoided those parts of the field by our WRs. That's why his completion % was so high. Most of his completions were to RBs & TEs on short passes so his inaccuracy would not lead to interceptions. But it killed a major portion of what should have been in our offensive game plan.

Plus, how many open receivers did DE16 miss against Alabama that would have changed that game in 2017? Can't really call his play adequate during his tenure.
