His buyout was $9.6m to be paid in monthly installments over six years. We're almost two years into it, so that would mean somewhere around $6.4m left to pay on it for four more years. What I don't know is whether the balance is reduced by the amount he has made from other sources, such as commercials, tv appearances, etc.

The guy was an econ major. My bet is on him getting every penny of that buyout. I’m sure he’s doing just enough to be considered looking for another coaching job.

A booster will probably need to step up and order to cover the tab in a lump sum payment to get us out from under it. I doubt anyone with that kind of coin is real anxious to let Alleva off the hook. When Alleva is fired, it won't surprise me if Les is paid off within 6 months

I'm pretty sure it's only coaching income that counts against it.

You do realize that is what happens to afford the new coaching staff? The university is on the hook for the contracts, the booster steps up to give them more money to buy new ones or to buy out the old contract and they have money already allocated for a new one.

I would happily contribute to a go fund me type of account if assurances were made that Alleva and O would be shown the door.

Dr. Pepper and Dos Equis should pay off 100% of what remains...……..

OR....maybe we will have a competent AD, and we can conduct a real coaching search and hire the best candidate available.

That just sucks. These buy outs that the agents keep college teams scared with are a killer. How could LSU not be on the look out for up and coming talent and just raising the anny with Les?

Incorrect. Any income reduces the buyout, assuming it is still being paid in monthly installments. There’s nothing that would have stopped the parties from agreeing to a lump sum that’s less than the sum of the montly payments (like lottery winners), in order to avoid either side having to fight about how much each month has to get reduced from other income.

ETA: autocorrect sucks
