Even the I set with 1 wide receiver and 1 slot receiver on the same side with a TE on the opposite side is a terrible formation. It limits you big time

I can see a good 3-4 series of I formation, establish the running game,
Not going to happen with this Oline. The only way for LSU to run the ball effectively in the SEC this season is to threaten teams with the pass early in the game and often on first down. That doesn't mean "go all Rich Rod spread", but I understand that it's all or nothing with some people.

First play out of this formation will be a bootleg to the fullback out of the backfield for 6 yards. Or he'll tuck and run if covered.

I know I will . WILL NOT WIN IF WE RUN I FORMATION

Some see the word spread and immediately get their panties in a knot. It is possible to still "spread" the defense with an I back set.
Expand your minds just a tad when the word "spread" pops up and just don't go stupid

I'm honestly surprised that many on here can recognize a formation
This used to be the case, until they watched the LSU offense.

Not sure but there will definitely be some hand-wringing!

If fans of any team are gnashing their teeth about a formation as common place in football as the i formation than they are imbeciles.
Well.....
fwiw LSU lines up in that formation like 70% of the time (or whatever the stat they mentioned was last game) and they run the ball like 3rd most behing teams that run the triple option so there's a legit gripe
These are numbers I heard on the last broadcast so maybe not 100% accurate but the point remains. They line up in teh same formation and run the same plays far too often

Just wow. A fricking idiot, you are.

First play out of this formation will be a bootleg 73 yard TD run by Harris.

Might as well just pick another team to follow. Les will never move away from a power run game plan.
Posted on 10/3/14 at 9:44 am to Mahootney
There's a difference between a power run game plan and eliminating the pass completely like I've seen early this year.
You can line up the i, have a power attack and still have the option to pass the ball.

Wasn't directing it specially at you. Just general miles bitching about the offense.
Posted on 10/3/14 at 10:15 am to jonboy
I don't care if we start out in the I formation.
If Harris can complete the short to intermediate passes, then we can be in the I all freakin day and win.
It is not the formation, but the how the players play.

It depends....if they adjust to the defense on the field it will be okay. Auburn stacks the box, you motion LF into the slot and drop into the pistol. You end up with a matchup advantage. (This is just my rantard dream though)

We will start out in the I. Freshman QB making his first start in a big time SEC road game.
