He didn’t decide until the day before the opener.
He also sat out during the scrimmage. Originally, McMahon said it was an "injury precaution".
When I went to the table to get autographs, he looked extremely dejected and disinterested. I think the gears were turning long before McMahon dropped the news.

Can’t lose players like that when you’re trying to build something. Same for Mike Williams, it just doesn’t make sense.

Maybe it’s this strange fixation McMahon has with a short rotation. Normally you play whoever can help you win, you don’t just say I’m playing 7-8 and that’s it no matter what. It’s just another strike against the guy.

Did we under the radar sacrifice him to the self imposed scholarship ban? I think remember him having some injury this offseason. Did he play in scrimmage? I dont have any insight into the program anymore.

If so this was dumb. All they had to do was not sign Noah Boyde who they don't even play anyway.

No our ban is over and we redshirted chest last year so don’t think it mattered

I thought for sure it was 1 for 23-24 which was dean not being on scholarship. And one for 24-25.

You’re correct but we did redshirt a player last season so I don’t think that’s it

quote:Yeah, but it is highly likely that another player came in without a scholarship. Possibly Cam Carter since he is local and could easily cover in state tuition with NIL. Maybe Noah Boyde.

Speaking of redshirts, Jalen Reed probably gets a medical this year and comes back as a redshirt Junior. He seems to me like a player who could really develop in a 5th year.

lol and let’s not act like this is a one off. Remember last season all the “wait until Cook is eligible, he’s the missing piece” then a month later it was “Cook sucks, he’s the reason we’re losing”. Same goes for Chest “all we’re missing is a rebounder” well he’s held up his end why are we still terrible? You even had a poster now calling Chest selfish and not a team guy after the OM game.

CMM deserves a strong NIL push before being shown the door.

It was a complete 180 from that contingent in less than a month. Just wait until he’s eligible and you’ll see what coach can do, then exact same posters a month later, that dude sucks and he’s the reason.

quote:He did really help until he pulled an attitude for being pulled from the starting lineup and eventually nope'd himself off the team. Luckily Hannibal picked up the pieces at pg. ETA: I never thought he was the reason we were losing.

Look, you want to lump a whole bunch of people into some bad takes you can't make up stuff and just pick some odd poster.

No one will care about this, but figured I'd throw in a name I like: Brian Earl
He was Cornell's coach for 7 years where he gradually got them better and better every year, and he just got hired to William & Mary. Had Cornell as one of the best offensive teams in the country (16th in points, 14th in FG%, 6th in Assists).
He now has William & Mary playing some very solid offense as well (36th in points, 20th in assists) in his 1st year there. They're currently sitting in 1st place in the CAA after finishing 13th out of 14 a year ago. They won 10 games in 23-24 and have already matched that here in early January.
I see him being a hot name in the near future. Knows how to coach some offense.

However, you guys are the ones acting like he’s the second coming and not the actual player that he is. Which is no offense to Jalen. I hope has a great recovery and comes back next year.

LSU basketball was, is, and always will be at the bottom in terms of LSU hierarchy. Disposable.
This just isn't true and a strong men's basketball program is much more prestigious on a national scale than a strong baseball team. Nobody outside of a few geographic areas of the country really care about college baseball; it's enjoyable, but it pales in comparison to basketball as far as overall revenue and television exposure on a national level.
