He threw for 345 and 3 tds.
Easily coulda been more especially when his arm got hit. Mcmath was wide open and would have been a TD.

That is about and 40-45 yard td. Which would bring around 390 range and 4tds.
A couple more of those completions on the slants and crossing routes prob adds about 50-65 yards.

This is all just speculation, but he hits just 70 percent of the guys there were open.
He throws for around 460 yards 4tds.
Potentially even more.

This is the same offense just not excuted.
You heard in practice by a reporter that it’s the same, just the execution is not. And that’s the difference.

I am not sure why this comes as a shock to people. That level of execution will never happen again.

If we could meet somewhere in the middle of what we saw Saturday and what we saw last year it would still be great

I agree. Too many misread assignments and misread coverages to just pass the performance off. There is definite room for improvement. But it still won't touch last year.

meeting in the middle of what we saw saturday and what we saw last year would be the second best offense in LSU history

How about this. Put Brennan on Bama last week and put Bama’s QB on LSU last week.... would the results of each game be different???

I feel like you could put any QB on Bama and they win most of their games.

How about put Brennan on Miss St and Costello on LSU?

Who wins? Is it even close?

Yep. If they were reversed, my guess is that Saban starts one of his other QBs.

So Brennan gets to play with that offensive line?

Better Question. How many yards and tds would Brennan have thrown if he wasn’t sacked 7 times and had 5 balls dropped?

The 5 drops are huge, bu how many of those sacks were WR’s open but he refused to throw it? 4? 5? It was definitely more than the O line jay got beat

The sacks were largely his fault for holding onto the ball.

I missed the 5 drops I guess, but I did see a couple of great catches to bail out some bad throws

If the defense had held State under 300 yds, there is no limit to what Brennan would have accomplished in his first game.
He was under constant pressure to score, and never had the opportunity to relax.

Yes Mac Jones is easily better than Brennan.

Considering Costello was a 3 year starter at Stanford it's not much of a comparison. He had 49TDs and 5000+ yards under his belt when he came to State. His 2018 season (3450yds) would be second only to Burrow last year if he was at LSU.
