I think zero.

I think LSU will use the I Formation against a very suspect Ole Miss run defense ALOT.

Not sure we have the right running back to pull that off, if Durham is hurt.
Berry might have some success outside the tackles.
JJ is a slasher, but not sure that suits his style.
KJ is still KJ, but size alone might be good for a few yards between tackles.
This OL isn't gong to help much no matter who plays FB.
I am not seeing this as the solution to running game woes. .

It will help to play against a defense that is giving up 190 rush yds/game

I honestly feel that he is an old school style back who would be better off following a lead blocker & making one cut then up field based off the block of the lead blocker.

I’m feeling little to no hope with a consistent run game. But I do remember feeling similar several years ago then we showed up running the same trap play 15+ times against Florida and ran it down there throats.

If Pyburn is our FB, the Reliford injury could put a damper on how much we can run it. Payton and Butler*** have been really good at DE along with Pyburn, but a lot of that is because there’s so little drop off between the 4 that we can rotate a ton. Carpenter may be a nice player, but he’s no Reliford, and if we take the option of playing FB on offense off the table, I’d imagine Baker would mainly rotate 3 instead of 4, with Pyburn getting the highest % of snaps amongst those 3.

***This post is mainly about how good our DEs are/were with the emergence of Butler. He got almost zero buzz in camp and seemed to be pretty much forgotten. He’s been absolutely huge for us so far. And with the Reliford injury, Butler is going to be even more important. Nice pickup.

You do not need to go back in time to use lead blockers. That is what an H-back is for.

We should put Kaleb Jackson at FB doesn’t make sense not too. He’s great at running into people…..plus he can’t knock the shite out of them

We’re not going under center except for the occasional short yardage and who knows if we’ll use the P-I which has worked well or the single back from last week which looked below average. What we could do is add a blocking back/HBack to our normal formations like we did in 2021. That season we started off averaging 71.6 ypg rushing against weak opponents then added Jack Mashburn to the mix and finished averaging 142.1 ypg rushing over the final 8 games vs mostly SEC opponents. Just find a head smasher and add it to what we already do.
