I know Lenoard Fournette sat out in 2016 and Coach O had words with about him. Now Greedy this year. Is it a coaching issue? As far as I've recalled all of the players under Les Miles would run through a wall for him.

Jeremy Hill played in the final Outback bowl, So did Odell, for all the shenanigans he gets up to now. He showed up against Iowa also in his final year.

Odell has calmed down this year acctually. A coaching issue, are you serious? It’s a new trend, and quite honestly who gives a shite. Also Fournette had dealt with injuries that entire season you really think it was in his best interest to try and play that bowl game through an injury? Another subtle dig at O.

This is a new thing the past couple of years. New trend that happens elsewhere also

Arden key took an entire season off. So did Clowney and Garret. This isn't anything new, but it is becoming more prevalent like qb transfers.

I don't think kids take O serious as a head coach. They come here to get to next level and maybe win 10 games along the way. These kids know that by playing for LSU they have a good shot at the league.
Especially defensive players

I thought he came back during the season? Stats have him playing in 8 games with 4 sacks. Did he play in the bowl game? I have a horrible memory atm.

He was drafted 3rd round, so not really the norm for guys who sit out.. they typically sit out to be a 1st rounder. . but some could say he "checked out" for the NFL.

yes if it's true that he hired an agent.

Nobody said he hired an agent.

Let's say you went to college and already have a job lined up making millions per year. Then one of your professors says I have one last test, if you want to take it, but it might cost you that million dollar job if you do poorly on it. Then you ask what happens if I opt out and the professor says absolutely nothing. What would you do? Take the test or opt out?

Kids don’t take O seriously? Laughable considering we currently have the 4th ranked recruiting class in the entire nation. I don’t think these kids are coming to play for Giggles the Clown.

This is a new trend for expected top 10 picks, nothing more.

Bosa, the team captain for likely playoff bound Ohio State, already announced he was done this year, hired an agent yesterday actually. He was hurt in September and could have been back by December. He chose to play it safe because he’s going to be a high draft pick. Sound familiar?

This is happening all over the league and will continue to be an increasing trend until the playoffs are expanded.

Completely not at all the same thing.

A more accurate analogy would be if he had a group project and he was one of the leaders of that group and your story played out.

expanding the playoffs may slow it slightly, but i see this trend continuing to include playoff teams and even kids sitting out the entire second half or so of a season...

a chance for a national championship (which pays you nothing) vs. an 8-figure contract....... if its a business decision about the money only then a national championship is next to worthless

It's a business decision, why risk a top ten draft spot for a meaningless bowl.

Who is the osu kid that got hurt and decided to blow off coming back this season, just focus on the draft?

I don’t blame anyone for sitting out a bowl game? They aren’t getting paid, but school sure is.

I personally disagree with the argument that it is a business decision and best not to play in a bowl game. Where do you logically stop, why play during your jr season at all if you are projected to be a top pick. Or hell why play college football coming out of highschool if you are a top recruit.
