How many NC’s for Saban without help from Birmingham?

Saban’s great and all, an I think he’s the best coach in history, but damn Bama cheats. Recruiting and officiating especially. There’s several years they would not have won a NC without critical, “favorable”? calls going their way. A lot of people in here assuming he would have had the same run here, but if he were here we don’t get those calls.

Patrick Peterson had a least two feet in. Maybe three.

What I dislike most about a couple of their championships is how the narrative changed by the media or the committee or voices of the game, always to benefit getting them in. They eye test. The best loss. Would beat Texas now etc.

Now, in most years (not this year) but most years when they were “let in”, they cashed in. And that’s what bother me, because it made a great coach and team seem invincible.

Loser talk.

UM, A&M, Moo State, & Arky feel similarly about LSU.

Moral: Don’t be a loser.

What a ridiculous post

Flip argument. Would you be saying that if he won six titles at LSU? Let’s not count most of them.

No, I’m making the exact opposite argument. That he would not have gotten the same level of help here. #freedevinwhite

If you don’t see it then you’re not old enough to have watched the 2007-2015 years or you’re simply disingenuous/oblivious.

What if Miami took Drew Brees instead of Culpepper? Nick would have multiple Superbowls, Alabama may be still irrelivant

Don't forget his relationship with Mark Emmert, the former President of the NCAA. Seems like every other school in the SEC ran afoul of the NCAA during Emmert's tenure BUT Bama.

Everyone knew Saban was paying players, yet there was never an inquiry. Too many kids posting pics with their new Chargers after signing with Bama for it all to be just 'coincidence.'

He’d still have 4 at Bama.

2009, 2012, 2015, 2020

Those are all legit.

And 2003 at LSU. (He had 0 help on that one. Media wanted USC so badly they split the title when they didn’t have to.)

2010 Nick Saban “you shouldn’t be in the BCSCG when you don’t win your conference”

2011 Nick Saban “we are the second best team, winning the conference isn’t required”

It wasn’t just their homegrown officials and alumni scheduling games. They got in several times (2011, 2017, 2023) due to their media campaign and his shameless lobbying and whining before selections were made.

Saban is the GOAT and there's nothing you can say that will change that. Yea he paid players and so did lots of other schools. He actually did something with the talent he had. I can name plenty of coaches to squander that same talent and don't do shite. It is what it is. Accept it and move on my god

I'm 62 years old and most of the whining I see about Bama getting help sounds like sandy vagina stuff.

If there is one legit gripe about Bama and officiating it is holding calls, or the lack thereof, on their linemen. But we saw a similar disparity of calls in the national championship game with Michigan being the benefactor.

I don't think it was as much Bama bias anymore as it was (and is) a perceived better team bias. And it may be that better teams coach their players on how to disguise those things better. Being able to catch them from a camera angle is different from the perspective of the refs at times.
