An average coach with this talent would be in Omaha. I firmly believe that. Nothing Magic in what he is doing. Les 2.0.

He is not getting fired anytime soon.

I guess it's just a crapshoot getting to Omaha and actually winning some games there ?

Fans bought the hype like we always do. Maybe...we just have to not expect any more national titles in baseball. It's parity in baseball.

I don't know if it is correct to put blame on the experienced players or the instruction they are being taught.

Maybe...no one is to blame ?

I have no answers ...again

How many championships has Calipari won at UK? What about Spurrier with the Gators? Bob Stoops isn't the greatest example, but has one championship. Everyone wants Chip Kelly, how many has he won? It's hard to win a championship in any sport.

FiddleHead says he's good to go with a Top 8 seed every year!

Who do you firmly believe will win national championships for LSU?

It's time he'll never win another title so why wait. Should've called his bluff on Texas but I guess Alleva didn't learn his lesson.

So, based on all the good coaches out there that you know of, who do you thinks going to win the championship this year?

I mean you should know that already, because of your ability to see what good coaching is.

Yeah. I don't think Joe Torre is coming out of retirement. Joe Maddon isn't going to come to LSU. If memory serves, Mainieri is the only coach to have a national seed each of the past 5 years. Who is the coach out there, realistically that is better?

Asking for a friend.

I would like more accountability from the coaches regarding the actual talent level of the student athletes. They never pan out of late.

How?

What form would this accountability take?

He's the new les miles. And old stubborn bastard set in his ways. It's like trying to break an old horse.

How about any team who's won a game in the CWS winner's bracket in the last 8 or so years? Those are the wins that I and every other LSU baseball fan should want.

Winning a title has nothing to do with it, what will keep his job is getting to CWS and competing once he gets there. The championship is icing on the cake. If he gets there consistently a championship will happen

There's no way LSU will fire a coach who gets to CWS 5 of 7 years with 4 or 5 wins BUT ZERO CHAMPIONSHIPS

How is this a positive thing to you considering what he's done in the postseason for the past 5 years? He's locked down national seeds, yet he hasn't even sniffed success against good coaches and competition lately. Do you think that it could possibly be because he's coaching below his talent level and his teams are overrated? It's REALLY hard to drop past ~10 when your team starts the season in the top 3 solely off of prestige and talent then you rack up 45 wins against the weak competition Mainieri schedules.

Bragging about Mainieri's national seeds is like wanting to retain a football coach because he consistently starts the season ranked 10th or better in the preseason polls despite the fact that he finishes outside of the top 25 every season with a 9-3 record and a bowl loss.

I wasn't necessarily trying to brag about it. I would just like to know from those that want him fired, what kind of replacements there are for a guy that accomplishes a national seed virtually every year.

He should have been run out already. He is average at best and has no business being in his job.
Give it time. The LSUAD certainly will. Alleva will let it drag out far longer than it should.

LSU fans will decide when it's time for "Milesinieri" to say bye bye, just like they did with Miles and Jones. When they've had enough and want a change, you'll start seeing less and less in attendance at Alex Box. Watch for that sign.........

This just in. The other 7 teams in the CWS give out scholarships too. Thier guys know how to play. Baseball is a funny game some times. You can hit the crap out of the ball and not score a run while the other teams bloops in 10 singles and scores 3 or 4 runs.
