When you have one of the worst defenses in the SEC and the country that means no one played at an elite level. There might be moments where they made impact plays but nothing we have done this year on defense could be considered elite.

I agree that Perkins has looked completely lost at times, but I think that has more to do with coaches putting him in the wrong position and then having to learn a new position. In his defense, I will say he still goes all out, which doesn't seem to be the case for a lot of our players.

I think the biggest problem with the defense is the lack of good coaching. With all of the problems on defense, there should still be a gradual progression of improvement as the season goes along, but this defense is just as bad as the first game and that's not acceptable!

None and you can thank the coaching staff for it.

It was obvious after the first two games this scheme was garbage, and moving your best player to a new role was also fricking stupid.

So what does the retard do? He doubles down on it.

Historic offense wasted due to hiring a special needs person to run the defense.

Didn’t someone say he isn’t being coached properly?

Good stuff

Fans have trouble attributing value to that. Much easier (and lazier) to assign value to rushing the passer. Which he has still been really good at. LSU is building an outstanding hybrid player here and everyone is missing it.

True.

I’ve watched Perkins rush the passer quite a bit this season and when it’s obvious he’s coming from a stand up DE position he usually gets handled. It’s not like he’s big enough to take on OTs.

He did better rushing last year with BJ, and a full strength Mingo, Roy and Gaye with him. We don’t have all those horses this year.

He needs to improve his talking and his run fits, but he’s still learning. Next year he should be his best if he works hard.

It’s also been good to see him taking on more of a leadership role out there. The announcers pointed that out during the game this week.

Wingo and Brooks were those guys to start this season and now both are gone. That’s definitely a positive to point out heading towards next season.
