Anthony Rendon was drafted in 2011 and was an everyday player in MLB by June of 2013.

Correa is 6'4" 215lbs. He's not your prototypical SS frame.

Correa sticks at SS, IMO. He's played extremely good defense there so far and his arm is ridiculous. Growth spurt or not, he should stay.

Anthony Rendon was also a SIGNIFICANLY better hitter than Alex Bregman.

No frickin idea. Just throwing out a name. Honestly, no one knows what the Astros expectations for Bregman are. And that, combined with other unknowns, will be a major contributing factor to how long he's in the minors.
The Nats wanted to work Rendon into the majors at some point in 2013, but their real timeline was to have him take over at third and move Zim to 1st by 2014. Then Zim got hurt early in the year, and Espinosa was absolutely sucking at 2nd so it accelerated the timeline.

quote:actually that is not true... Zimmerman was a Gold Glove 3rd baseman until he starting having issues throwing after surgery. Rendon was originally drafted because the Nats had him as #1 on their board and at #6 he was too good to pass up. He was a player they saw could play multiple positions at the time and could move around the diamond. Had Zimmerman not had his issues then Rendon would be at 2B permanently.
but their real timeline was to have him take over at third and move Zim to 1st by 2014.

I can't see Lowrie riding the bench while Valbuena gets good playing time (even with his homeruns). and Correa is hitting great.

I don't think he ever plays for Houston.
I'm leaning this way as well.

2 years.Correa will move to 3rd and Bregman will play SS.

As soon as he can hit the slider/curve...

This makes the most sense, and something I was hearing around the time Bregman got picked. It's the Astros version of A-Rod/Jeter

Lunhow said in his 1st round draft day press conference that Bregman can play different position if Correa is established and "Deal with that as it comes".
On the other hand Mike Elias said emphatically that Bregman would remain at SS.

I see Lowrie moving to 3rd when he comes back from injury and being traded in 2-3 years time to make room for Bregman at 3rd. Bregman is just going to have to get over not playing at SS if he is going to wear the Astros uniform.
This sounds good. As long as he makes it in time for this lineup to happen:
1. Bregs - 3B
2. Altuve - 2B
3. Correa - SS

Mark it, dude.

Yep, you have to draft based on value and not on needs since it takes so long before these prospects ever put on a MLB uniform.

he'll prob be immediately sent to Houston and they'll send down Correa
I have a inside source, sorry can't reveal it, that says the Astros have a plane in Omaha waiting on him.

yea i think Bregs will play 3rd or OF before he supplants Correa at SS.
its a myth that you have to hit for power to play 3rd. Sure it would be nice, but if the rest of the team has power then you can live with it
Matt Carpenter plays 3rd for the best team in the league. He hit 19 Hrs combined in 2013-14.
