Its really getting old with all the talk about the refs call giving LSU the game...bs, if Georgia's coach was worth a flip, he would take some responsibilty for losing the game....

I have heard it several times on the college shows on Sunday, and it is BS. What cost Georgia the game was their failure to cover the ensuing kickoff. They had more time on the clock when we kicked off then it took us to score.

If they cover Holliday's return and we have to start from the 35 we likely would have won anyway.

Mike Golic had something to say about it this morning but he did say that "Georgia had an opportunity to stop LSU and give credit to them for going right down the field and scoring."

It seemed that his beef was with the penalty being called and not that it "cost Georgia the game".

Golic was right.

The penalty was stupid.

It did hurt UGA because LSU was kicking their arse on kick returns/coverage all game.

It did affect the game. It didn't decide it, but it certainly changed the strategy.

LSU DID win it regardless.

The celebration penalties being called needs to stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we would have scored touchdowns when in the red zone it wouldn't have come down to a penalty,,,,, this is failed to be mentioned.

Why is no one mentioning that it was called against LSU right before giving the ball back to UGA with 40 seconds left?

Why didn't Georgia stop us on the kickoff inside the LSU 35 or so ? Why did they line up incorrectly on the kickoff and get penalized for that ? Holliday torched them with a kickoff and then Scott ran over them for a TD.

Georgia needs to shut up and quit crying.

If we had won the game with a 45 yd field goal or something, they'd have a grip. BUT, CS snapped off a 40 yard fricking run. Im pretty sure he could have gone 50 if they were back farther. A TD should negate that talk.

I will say that call is bogus. They have a right to be upset, but they should credit us with the win because of the TD.

You'll hear about it until lsu loses.... If we go 14-0 and win a championship you will never hear the end of it.... The media hates LSU

Georgia's coach is probably the one who started that stuff.

This is a good point.

The fact that their receiver should have been called for offensive pass interference for pushing off the shoulders of our guy also seems to have slipped everyone's minds.

Another point to make is that while it APPEARED that nothing untoward was going on when UGA was called for excessive celebration, look closely at when it was called. The UGA player was facing the ref and throws his hands out a little and most likely spouts off some trash talk. Chances are, it was not directed AT the ref, only NEAR him-- but the ref takes it as AT him and throws the flag.

Someone perceives this as ridiculous and decides to call CS for the same as he does the "kiss the fingers/touch the sky" routine at the other end. Personally, I have no idea why THIS was excessive. Evidently, telling God or a deceased relative "that was for you!" is no longer acceptable.

I actually think the opposite. The more we win, the less it will be brought up, a la Auburn '04. How many times was the field goal penalty brought up by the end of the season?

FAIL!!!

You homers are embarrassing.

The celebration calls were pathetic and yet a homer starts a thread talking about a call that didn't decide the game.

This thread ought to be whacked.

BINGO ..

if we don't move the ball and win on an FG .. i can see the beef .. but if they cover the kick properly and we have the ball at around the 35 .. scott takes it to the house either way .. regardless .. JJ had finally found his groove and was going to take us down no matter where we were on the field ... if there is any doubt in anyone's mind that the better team won saturday .. then i dunno what fricking game they were watching ..

UGA = effing whiners!

2003 - LSU was lucky to beat us in BR on last second play.
2007 - we should play for the tittle. Boo-Hoo.... even though we are Florida's bitch.
2009 - that celebration penalty was not fair.... well stop the effing k-o return like we did and it is a non issue.

Geez.... dawgs get a life.
