Not bad for a pocket passer but he is not a runner. Better than Mett but that is not saying much.

let me be clear in saying that no matter how bad this year is, until the end of the year Brennan should not be receiving any meaningful time. we've hurt so many young QBs since 2008 by rushing them into the fire of SEC play that if we're going to suck, we might as well suck and retain a promising young QB

but with that disclaimer, i think Brennan is actually very mobile. not a running QB, per se, but mobile enough to get first downs and big gains against man-1 or man-0 looks when he has the field. he's got flynn or JR-type mobility

No no no. True freshman are playing and playing well at other schools, why can't it happen at LSU? Just last year in the SEC you saw Eason, Patterson, Hurts and Bentley all start as true freshman. Georgia is winning games with another true freshman in Fromm. We all saw what the freshman at Texas did vs USC this past weekend.

It's time to start Brennan.

Yeah, I don't get this either... People on this board love the fact we play 19 freshman at positions that require physical strength and size way more than the quarterback position. I get if you don't think the QB is mentally ready.

Sam Darnold was a dual threat QB coming out and I believe Randolph was as well. His mobility is on the same level as Etllings. Mobility is not a strong point for him but he isn't a sitting duck either.

for the past decade, we've ruined every young QB that we've recruited out of HS by rushing them into play too early

Lee, Jefferson, and Harris were irrevocably hurt by this

we need to prove that we have an offensive culture and developmental plan over time before we start taking those risks again

while i understand your point about freshmen succeeding at other schools, those schools do not have the recent history of LSU in this area

I agree. They should at least start pivoting towards Brennan by letting him get some action in a 2-QB type system with an eye towards next season as far as QB development. See how he handles it before trying to hand-off the starting job free and clear.

He's back to 100%. Brennan has nowhere near the scrambling ability/escapability that Narcisse has.

Lee finished his career fine. I think Les was irrevocably hurt by that season more than Lee.

Jefferson never had good instincts as a quarterback. He was a long term product that should have had playing time in spurts over his first 2 seasons plus redshirt before getting a start.

Harris was just never accurate. Do you think his one start as a freshman hurt him? Granted it was a horrible job giving him his first start against Auburn.

ETA: In all honesty I don't see how starting as a freshman hurt any of those players. If anything being only one of two options when they were freshmen was the real issue as you couldn't take them out.

I think the issue is, when it comes to grasping the offense:
Etling>Brennan>Narcisse

If Etling, who's the most comfortable in the system, and who showed composure last season, is struggling with the pressure, the others would be in bigger trouble. Narcisse might escape more, but if he doesn't know where everyone is, he could be making INTs instead of sacks.
