6’3” is relatively short for a tight end, no? I’m interested to see how we use him.

He’s a tall 6’3”, he’s right near that sweet spot of 6’4”. I think he has a great build for the position

He’s going to have to block if he’s TE or big arse slot receiver.

OPs asking a legit question.

You are comparing apples to oranges when talking about a TE and RB blocking assignments. A RB missing a blocking assignment on a pass play could mean major injury to your QB.

Spot on--the biggest difference is that Gilbert isn't gonna need to worry about pass-blocking, whereas a RB definitely will. That fact makes it a lot easier for a weak blocker (not saying gilbert will be) to get on the field

I saw Arik play against Hillgrove. He lined up tight several times and even drew Myles Murphy a few times one on one. Arik held his own and I don’t recall Myles making any tackles when Arik was blocking him. Of course, the play often went away from Myles. Arik’s blocking was actually the thing I was most surprised about in the game. He also did a nice job blocking downfield, which will be more important in his likely role at LSU.

Arik had to play offensive line as a youngster because of his size. He wasn’t allowed to play any skill positions in the leagues where he lived. He’s not afraid to get dirty.

I’m not sure but it’s a lot easier for Arik Gilbert who’s 6-5,250 than emery who’s 6-0,200. But I think Kole Taylor will be more of a blocker later on.
