I think he would have been really good. He was really good at the short/intermediate throws

You have Dupre, Dural, and Chark at WR

Can he move in the pocket and get rid of the ball quickly?

poor Danny. he played in an offense that ran 2 reciever routes that were long developing with no safety valves around and he paid the price by getting sacked. I wish we could have seen him play in a better scheme

Did you not see some of those TD throws? No way was Etling threading the needle on the Jefferson and Marshall passes

This isn’t a knock on Danny either. Joe is just much better and much improved on his throws from last year to this year

Joe makes this offense. The dude just makes good decisions. Danny Etling is not Joe Burrow 3:17.

Barf

Only Dupre has multiplicity with his route tree, and even so, he’s average route runner. The other 2 are one truck ponies

Etling would have been nice in this offense. Same toughness. Same arm strength. Joe is way more accurate deep.

Etling wouldn’t have made that late 3rd down throw and he likely wouldn’t have made that late 1st half throw to put us up 20-7.

The new offense is amazing. But burrow is VERY critical to its success.

Chark was better than Dupre.

Chark ran 1 route GB

He’d be good in this offense as the 3rd guy but not the WR1

This isn’t a Etling Vs Burrow thread. Etling was smart and accurate, look at that stretch against NOrte Dame where he caught rhythm

How many people would like to be scoring touchdowns with NFL money, says Chark

Well he tried four different teams and was mediocre in all of them.
I doubt another scheme would have made much difference.

There’s nothing wrong with Chark he’d just struggle to run the routes the three guys LSU has this year run

He’s really good at what he does and that is get deep

Dupree was the worst of the 3. U are just as dumb here as you are on the food board.

Ok then.

Etling would not have won that TX game.

Not very good.

Loved Etling's heart.
But his arm was sub-par. Maybe because of his back problems or his technique. But he could not make the NFL throws.

Plus he had trouble with touch passes. Joe has that ability also.

All you have to do to compare is to look at where Danny was drafted (7th round -(last) by NE Patriots). Belichick is known for taking flyers at QB.

Joe is being projected as a first rounder. Even if he falls some, he is still going to be drafted much higher than Danny, who would probably not have been drafted had Belichick not brought him in for a camp arm. Burrow is a sure NFL QB while Danny is trying to find some footing on a practice squad.

Absolutely no comparison. Burrow.

Neither Dupre nor Chark ran that many routes while at LSU. Just skimmed through some highlights and it's like 90% go routes for both of them.
