This offense has a lot of timing throws, which requires releasing the ball before the receiver makes his break. It also requires quick decisions. Danny Etling had to make sure you were wide open before throwing the ball.

How much of that was him? How much of that was Les’ fears of passing being drilled into Etling? I’m not sure.

Not good. Because he just wasn’t very good. No pocket presence. Noodle arm. Now I would’ve loved to see what Chark would’ve looked like in this offense.

Better than he was but not nearly as good as JB.

Every QB we ever had would have been better under this offense. None would have been as good as Burrow but they all would have been better than they were.

I’m not sure you can say that about Russell and Mettenberger, but every other qb, yes.

He was really good at the short/intermediate throws

Etling was a good QB, until he faced bama, where he literally choked. 3 plays Canada sent in that had the bama defense confused and on their heels and all Etling had to do was throw an accurate pass 30 to 40 yards down the field and he literally choked. On pass was to a receiver that had 10 yards on the nearest defender and Etling threw a dead duck. It was so bad the receiver couldn't even slow down enough to get back to the ball in time to catch it. No way Etling was good enough to take LSU to the promised land.

This is a dumb thread, I mean hate to be negative about a great tiger but he would be ok not great. He wasn't really a SEC qaulity QB honestly his talent was more suited for a school like tulane or la tech but he always gave his all and I'm glad he came here.

What about the 2013 offense with this offense?

Mett’s arm throwing to Odell and Jarvis with Travin Dural, Kadron Boone, and James Wright as backups. And if they aren’t open you had Jeremy Hill and Alfred Blue at running back. Also had four of their starting linemen that eventually were drafted and Pocic was a backup.

That offense was great but mainly because they were so good on third down it made up for Les/Cam incompetence on first and second down.

He would have been awesome. Dude was legit. He went to the Patriots and damn near took Tom Brady’s job.
