Swann is obviously the favorite to be the backup

I don't disagree. Was just pointing out what I heard on Scarborough that currently he is third string.

I've only seen like 5 minutes, but I think Swann is probably going 3rd in drills because he's new and Collins was there last year and knows what's expected. That may last throughout the spring, but I don't think it means that if Nuss gets hurt, Collins would be the 1st to go in the game. Maybe if we played tomorrow, but I still doubt it.

Great position to be in, though. QB room looks very healthy right now. Last year we just had 3 guys on scholarship and 1 was a true freshman. That's happened before and may wind up being more the norm in this day and age. Having that 4th guy (actually having the 3rd guy not being a true freshman) is huge and again, may wind up being an abnormal luxury. It's going to be really interesting to see which of Swann, Collins, and Hurley are still here in '25 with Underwood coming in. Not sure if Nuss coming back will affect much, unless one of those guys thinks it will cut into their reps and development. I can't imagine all 3 come back, but if we can keep 2 out of the 3, the QB room will continue to be in great shape.

I don't even want to know what evidence you have to justify that conclusion. And as far as Mike Scarborough's opinion goes, I would put that at the same level as Bugs Bunny. I believe he is a Rivals guy right? I have sssssoooo much respect for Rivals.

Nuss is the dude and will have a great year

Swann is the emergency guy in case Nuss goes down.

Collins is the one that will get the late game reps in blowouts.

Hurley will redshirt.

I'm not sure who the backup will be...I just know that I like him and think he's better then the starter.

Collins will never play meaningful snaps at LSU. Even if Nuss goes pro following this season.

He’s sandwiched between a steady vet and a more talented then him Freshman. And then you have Underwood coming in.

I don’t think coaches are making promises for backup QB spots.

I'd bet you're wrong

This guy was a starter at an SEC school, yes it's Vandy, and he'd have started there this season. LSU convinced him to come here; so I'd wager the coaches told him in their honest assessment he'd be at least 2nd on the depth chart, and would be given a chance to compete and take the starting role (as Daniels did).

He wasn’t brought here to be third string.

He was brought in to be a safety net. Nuss was the only QB on the roster with a start and that was the "bowl game."

Swann has several starts but not much in the way of accomplishment in them.

That's the best you can do when you're looking for a backup and already have a starter for the next 2 years.

Collins is the more talented passer. This guy went to competitions and showed that. Has a great arm and is being coached by a great QB coach. In all honesty, I think he starts in 2025 if Nuss has a crazy year and declares for the draft early.
