Arm strength is the most overrated aspect in a Qb. Nfl teams have finally figured that out. It took them roughly 50 years though

The one he couldn’t step into cause a defender was diving at his legs??

This is how false narratives get started. Go watch the throw again
Exactly, Lester.

Burrow's completion rate of "over 15 yard in the air" throws is crazy good. It was 10 of 12 according to a graphic at one point in the Texas game.

Ever play catch with a guy at 10 yards apart... and he throws every ball as hard as he can? And another guy puts a little arc on it? Which ball is more catchable?

Joe can put smoke on the ball when needed (but it is rarely needed)

Yeah I understand that. What I’m basically asking is what is the biggest issues about Burrow from a pro scouts point of view? I’m talking physical issues.

He’s got at least adequate arm strength. It may be open for discussion as to whether it is exceptional or close to that, but that shouldn’t really be a factor for his ability to play in the NFL based on history.

Don't know who really to compare him to but being in a system he's comfortable in sure makes him seem to have more zip on his throws. I'll say this, if Brady and Brees has enough arm strength to be successful in the NFL, Burrow does too. Arm strength is a great attribute but understanding timing of the throw, accuracy, dissecting defenses and making quick decisions will get you a lot further if you only have an above average arm.

Burrow’s lack of arm strength is a myth. He just prefers to throw the ball to the receivers hands not through his receivers hands. I remember reading last year that he out threw Haskins in a distance competition during the spring game. He has gas when needed. His release time probably is a little longer than some. That’s probably the only legitimate knock on him.

That underthrow to Chase was rough

I think that was a timing issue rather than an arm strength issue.

I agree for sure. But there is a baseline you have to hit. My eye test says Burrow hits it easily.

Saw Chase in an interview say that the ball has slowed down since they had to catch 10000 balls over the summer.

He stepped right into the throw. Just because the defender landed near his feet doesn’t mean he didn’t step into it.

Saying he “stepped into it” is a broad statement. Of course he stepped in to it. Just not with the force needed to complete that throw more accurately.

Come on, at least act like you’ve played a sport that involved footwork and throwing a ball.

Deshaun Watson got a ton of flak for not throwing the ball hard at all at the combine... people thought he wouldn't be able to fit it in the tight spaces in the NFL... Look at him now

I think is best comp when it comes to Burrow’s arm strength is Peyton as well. Doesn’t have rocket, but he can make any throw he needs to make.

The really good QBs know when to hum it and when to put touch on it.

I wouldn’t want to draft a QB coming in with a below average arm.
That "arm stength" false narrative started on the Ohio St boards by Haskins supporters in early 2018. Burrow has a slightly stronger arm than Haskins.

Haskins throws almost everything as hard as he can. Burrow throws with a little touch (unless smoke is absolutely needed - then he smokes it).

It’s not “plus” arm by any means (see Herbert at Oregon), but it’s probably good enough. Tremendous decision- making and accuracy is what all great QB’s possess
