He does not pronounce it like the usual pronunciation here in Louisiana-Shah sone. The announcers were saying it the way he says it.

lovinLSU is the closest to the traditional, Louisiana pronunciation: sha-saun (I would add that the "n" at the end is very soft, almost silent). However, the player himself probably pronounces it the way he does because the fight to get it right is hardly ever won in Texas. And, no, I grew up just slightly north of 90.
If you think he has trouble with his last name, try mine: Soileau. Because I got called a lot of other things while in the U.S. Navy...I just laugh, correct people, & move on.

I just happened to have worked with a guy whose last name was Chaisson... he was from Berwick, Louisiana and pronounced his name as “ Sha-saun”... with the “N” being fairly silent...a “Cajun” pronunciation..... I’m sure in Texas it may be pronounced a little bit different...

It is Cha-sawn. Even Coach O pronounced it that way in the press conference.

Coach O pronounces it the way most South Louisianians do. I'm pretty certain the player is ok with it, even though it's not the Houston pronunciation. One would hope the player would find it endearing that many fans pronounce it the Louisiana way as a sign of affection for him.

Sha with the a sounding like ahhhh Shahh son with the on sounding like the french pronunciation of Maison, the on sound. So Shahh son. This IS the correct pronunciation of Chaisson. French name. Cajuns know how to pronounce the name since we hear it all the time down in South louisiana. If they are pronouncing it any other way, they are WRONG.

Nope. Incorrect Pronunciation. LOL, even LSU's own website gets it wrong. Must be a Yankee that put it together on their website lol
