I think what we need the most is a really good Pass catching TE

As someone pointed out above, Thad Moss, son of Randy Moss, transferred in and will be eligible

Drake Davis, for whatever reason, has had the most disappointing season of any player on LSU’s roster(relative to expectations). His lack of development and emergence really hurt this year’s WR group and opens up a lot of questions about next year’s. Will he emerge? Will Anderson get and keep his head on straight? If yes, the WRs could be really good. If not, we could see a similar season to this year. One thing’s for sure, if nobody transfers and we get Marshall, our group will be extremely athletic. Maybe the most in the country.

Young guys coming in - WR and RB it is reasonable to expect top tier freshmen to contribute almost right away. They won't be as polished, but our big guns should be a lot better and provide better mismatches.

Plus, as you suggest, Giles had 69 catches (13 TDs) in 2016 - that's going to be a great buffer for the loss of the experience of Gage and Chark - who are difference makers this year, without a doubt.

Drake has all the talent to be a 1st round pick, but he has not been able to get on the field much. Anyone have any insights as to why? Is it behavioral issues similar to Dee?

It isn't behavioral at all. Drake is a raw athlete. It's taking him more time than expected to develop. Remember that he took quite a few years off to play soccer. So far he has improved his route running and football IQ, but still struggles catching the ball away from his body(something Chark has seemed to get away with).

Sullivan needs to get more consistent catching with his hands.

He has great potential though

I don't think Dee Anderson sticks around. He's back in the doghouse after complaining about no catches by receivers in a previous game and then lets a crucial high back shoulder pass sail right through his hands against Bama. I don't think he was in the game after that drop.

He has been a lot of talk and no show. Hope he has the brain to stay and put in the work and learns to be more humble.

Unless the coaching staff proves it can actually teach, the WR position will be once again be almost a wasted spot on the field.

Inconsistent hands? I remember at most two drops by Sullivan. And maybe one by Davis. Sullivan snatches the ball out of the air with those big hands. Hopefully he will get more throws next year. He is a mismatch waiting to happen. Just need a QB who can deliver the ball. That's true with the whole WR corp. With a competent QB and aggressive playcalling they will soar.

Can't put up numbers if they don't pass to you. I'm curious how many pass plays this year compared to Mile's last full year in 2015. How many WR targets? Still very anemic. Hopefully a different QB will invigorate the pass offense. Also I hope there is a true QB competition rather than an annointinng.

Don’t forget about McMath guys, something about him tells me he’s gonna be a good one.

I’m close to giving up on Dee Anderson , he’s talented as hell but soft and seems to be a primadonna and a locker room problem . I think next year will be a great year though . There’s no real evidence other than Sullivan and Derrick Dillion , but i feel Drake is going to have a damn good jr year and a monster sr campaign. Giles could very well be the best stretch the field type guy we have had in a while . Thaddeus moss has the pedigree, let’s see what happens .

The real reason i feel it will be improved is because of brennan and Canada . My prediction it we are far more explosive in the passing game but brennan may through more picks than we are used to seeing. Deshaun Watson through a bunch last year but also won a National championship, Brennan will be a top SEC QB by his jr year .

1 against Alabama, 1 against Ole Miss, 1 from Brennan against UTC on a long ball are the 3 that stick out most to me, 2 were definitely TDs. That's 3 drops vs. 6 catches.

Bottom line is he needs to get better.

We are going to be in good shape at the receiver position next year. I'm far more concerned about the quarterback position. Hopefully, it will be a mobile QB who can also find receivers down field. All the championship teams have mobile quarterbacks and Myles Brennan isn't one of them.

I feel the same way I felt the last 10 years under CLM. Best receivers in the country do you no good, unless you have a QB who can throw to them.

If Drake and Stephen can progress their technique in the off-season i will feel great about our WRs. I feel very confident in their athletic ability. Giles, Anderson, and Dillion are very quality WRs too.
