i have lived in texas for 6 years now and have learned that many texans, possibly the majority of natives have an incredibly enlarged (and blind) perception about anything texas. this perception is taken advantage of by marketers who give the impression that the product they are selling is "made in texas by texans and just for texans". and the locals eat it up. i have met some that have stated that they have never been beyond the state border and do not care to because "everything" is bigger and better in texas. it is very much like brain washing. there are a lot of good things about texas but i'm so damn tired of the blatant loud mouthed arrogant pretensious sons of b%(*$$chs that i have to get away a lot (i'm retired and we're moving when the wifey does). there are some nice educated and well traveled folks here but there is a preponderence of undereducated mindless airheads that can't shut up about texas. personally, i hope they DO secede from the union like many over here advocate. then i'm moving back to the united states where i belong, not texico.

I know a bunch of people from Texas who go to LSU just for the out-of-state benefits, but I'm sure they wish every second that they can go back home to the "greatest state ever." If any Texas team plays LSU, they'd root for the Texas team. I'm always like THEN WHY THE HELL ARE YOU HERE?!?

Dude,

You have to ignore them. There's no way they're going to get 'it' and you'd die trying. I grew up in Texas, a Longhorn fan, thinking 11-2 was my birthright. About 18 years ago, after consecutive Saturday Nights in Tiger Stadium, I became a Tiger, NOT because of the team, which sucked then, but because of the fan base. There's more passion, more football knowledge/savvy and less patience with LSU fans than any other fan base. But you can't preach it. You gotta live it. Nuff said.

that's a smart move then, isn't it?

also a smart business move...it's called following the money. Not many professions pay more in LA than they do in TX. That's just a fact of life.

Because I fall in this category...I have to root for the Saints? I have to root for the Hornets? Umm...no. I went to LSU. I didn't go to the school for the Hornets or Saints. LSU = BR. Hornets and Saints = NOLA.

I chose NOT to jump on the Saints bandwagon when I was over there in '06. It was great seeing them succeed. I have no issues with the Saints...just want them to lose when they play Dallas.

And the Hornets fans in NOLA are just as fair-weathered as anybody. I am not pulling for that organization...they had no childhood memories for me, except in Charlotte. I am not changing allegiance because I move.

To get a quality education from a large university? To save on a little cash? To follow in the footsteps of their parents. Maybe people WAY over in Houston are LSU fans and want to go there. Or is the 4 hr drive too much to justify?

I wasn't talking about the pro sports. I meant if any of the Texas COLLEGES play LSU - UT, A&M, Tech.

That's fine - but the 24/7 complaining about how much Louisiana sucks and Texas is the best ever gets old after a while.

I still followed UT...wanted them to do well. That was my childhood team. But I AM a Tiger. In no way was I hoping for them to win against LSU in the CWS. That was when I truly felt like I had pushed the Horns to the curb. But seeing as how the majority of my family went to Texas, it's become more of a friendly household rivalry. I wish them well, but not against us. I think the program gets a bad rap because it's "Texas". Their football players are no different than ours (wins and losses aside), they deal with the same expectations and same shite. The fact that the media treats them differently is something I blame on the shitty sports network in Bristol.

But yeah...I agree with you. I am not going out of my way to watch the Horns.

It does. I was thankful and fortunate LSU gave me the financial assistance necessary to get through. I love the university, and have made several 16 hour round trips to see the Tigers play. The state's culture was awesome to be a part of, and I feel fortunate to have spent time there. I would not rule out a return to that state for me.

However, my job pays much more than in Texas. Texas cities are booming much more than LA. The state is just much more progressive. That's nothing new though, so yes...I agree. It's annoying when Texans trumpet this like it's a big deal. The same could be said for every state that borders TX. Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Mexico aren't exactly garden spots either when it comes to starting a career.
