The people who care for and study him say it’s not good for him. They probably know more about it than anyone posting here.
LSU wants to use the tiger program in its research ambitions and use its sanctuary status for prestige for said program while ensuring that there’s never a problem getting a tiger on campus. Parading Mike around like a circus animal puts up barriers to doing those things. The regulatory environment on endangered species is trending in a direction that would make procuring a tiger more difficult without holding the status LSU has in the future.
I thought everyone came to terms with this years ago. It’s not about PETA or feelings. It’s about ensuring we have a tiger on campus in perpetuity.
