He went like 9-6 at Miss State. Seems he wasn't that good and pitched mid week games.

I met Papelbon one night after a Red Sox game a few years ago. I asked him why didn't he go to LSU. He said LSU didn't recruit him. Oh well..

Probably wasn't as good in high school and/or college. There are quite a few athletes who do well in professional ball but weren't as good in high school and/or college. It happens.
