Shaun Alexander I believe was the problem.

This!
Think he rushed for 486 yards that night, or so it seemed. We just couldn't stop him.

Plus Hodson was hurt so Micky Guidry quarterbacked that game.

WTF happened that night?

I was there and stayed to the bitter end - I will admit I had left my seat when time expired, but we weren't even to the ramp yet.

Offense, defense, special teams and coaching were all in crimson that day. I can't recall clearly where it went wrong. It was 14-0 at the half and we tightened up in the 3rd quarter, but scored no points.

Two 100+ yard rushers for Bama, Shaud Williams and Santonio Beard. Marcus Randall was ineffective passing for us, and we were unable to run.

You'd think Saban would have figured that out eventually

Bama was so impressed with Sabans coaching that night. The rest is history.

Go to the 0:58 mark of this video:

LINK

You can see 2002 Bama players and Coach Fran laying into Saban after game. They believed the fake internet rumor about Saban badmouthing Bama in locker room speech. Saban had no idea what they were talking about.

That's why I used those clips right there during "I've seen your face before, my friend..."

Clausen either started or played alot in that game.

He was 3-6, negative yards rushing. Marcus Randall was the starter, and was ineffective passing, but got 54 yards rushing, and was our leading rusher. I don't think you need to know more than that why we got shut out.

Saban had the better team. We just had too many missed opportunities and couldn't convert in the redzone. Well couldnt really get to the redzone.

If only we had a chance for a rematch.

Bradie James, maybe? (Unless you're riffing on the whole Shaun Alexander/Shaud Williams thing - if that's the case, then )

I'm no math whiz but if Shaun Alexander was playing in 1996 then how was he still playing in 2002??? That's 6 years if my math is right.

ALSO, I was there ... in the SEZ upper bowl. Nearly froze my arse off. Probably the coldest that I've ever been in Tiger Stadium.

Look at this from the box score posted earlier in the thread. Did LSU really punt on 3rd down?

[quote]1st and 10 at LSU 20 Marcus Randall (LSU) pass incomplete to the left side.
2nd and 10 at LSU 20 Marcus Randall (LSU) pass incomplete to the left side.
3rd and 10 at LSU 20 Punt by Donnie Jones (LSU) returned by Shaud Williams (ALA) to the Crimson Tide 36 for no gain.
DRIVE TOTALS: 2 plays, 0 yards/quote]

I remember going to that game with my mom (an ex Bama cheerleader and alumni) and she was thrilled Bama killed us. She Loves LSU except when they play Bama but if I remember correctly we killed them the next year like 30-0

This is in my top 5 for the angriest I've ever been at a football game. I was in the eighth or ninth grade and a remote control perished before halftime as a result of one play.
