i'm not concerned at all. if the team plays like this in year 4 or 5, then i'll be concerned. we all knew this year was going to be rough.

Just for comparisons' sake, in 00-01 to this date we had played 7 games (2 road, 5 home)....

11/28/00 at Houston - W (61-59)
12/9/00 Texas Southern - W (89-59)
12/13/00 McNeese State - W (87-68)
12/16/00 New Orleans - W (84-57)
12/20/00 at Arizona - L (88-75)
12/22/00 Nicholls State - W (92-49)

B Rod, to add to that, I want to say Lamont Roland was still healthy. Wasn't it the Alabama game where he blew his knee out?

And to the OP, I am not worried 1 bit. It's year 2 with a talent depleted roster. I have a strong hunch year 3 will be much different.

I'd rather the longterm rebuild rather than a quick fix that lands us on probation a la Calipari. He won the SEC last year to tide us over. This is just gonna be a long year. Maybe he'll squeeze them into an NIT bid.

Look at the stands at home games. Very little "concern" going on. The LSU Basketball fanbase right now is non-existent. (except for a few die-hards) No way this program is generating a profit at this point. Anyone know how many season tickets were sold this year? Over 6,000? Just curious. If so, a lot of no-shows.

Outside of the big boys (duke, unc, uconn, MSU, Kansas, UK) does anyone make a profit in men's hoops? Just out of curiousity, not being a smartass.

Good point. I always thought that Basketball could at least break even but it would be interesting to know what schools actually profit.

There's only 8 scholarship players right now and a couple of them should be redshirting as it is. We're young without depth which is just a recipe for a frustrating season. If Farrer takes a medical redshirt this year which he probably should do at this point the team next year will have depth and a lot of experience and should be a good tourney team...

Center
1. JR. Malcolm White
2. JR. Garrett Green

Power Forward
1. JR. Storm Warren
2. SO. Dennis Harris
3. FR. Jalen Courtney

Small forward
1. FR. Matt Derenbecker
2. SO. Eddie Ludwig

Shooting Guard
1. SO. Aaron Dotson
2. SR. Alex Farrer
3. FR. Ralston Turner

Point Guard
1. SR. Bo Spencer
2. FR. Andre Stringer
3. JR. Chris Bass

Could actually have a full complement of scholarship players.

the FR will have to step up very big for us to have a successful season next year.

No disrespect, but this is a prime example of why people give the rant so much shite. 2009 All SEC first team, pre-season 2010 coaches first team.

Right now he's 3rd in the conference in scoring (17.3 ppg) and 3rd in boards (9.2 pg). He finished last season in the top 10 in both categories also. And he can also play the 3 or the 4, so taking that into consideration there may only be 2 teams in the league (KY and Tenn) that wouldn't start him, and I'd have to look more closely at it before I'd say for sure that he wouldn't start for Tennessee.

Only freshman needing to step up is Derenbecker and if you talk to anyone you'll find out he'll be a nice contributor as a freshman. Andre Stringer is REALLY good but I suspect won't play as much with Spencer around...but maybe they move Spencer to the 2 which means Stringer would start the 1...although I doubt it with Dotson around. Stringer could be an immediate starter though like Derenbecker and do fine.

Courtney and Turner will probably redshirt.

Are you serious? Taz is great and which SEC school wouldn't he start for?

Me? Not at all. I saw this year coming. So did our coach. He talked about it last year. If anything, I'm a bit encouraged by the play of a couple of guys that I did not expect much from. I knew the losses would mount. Coach needs time.

All 5 starters on the floor if I predicted them right should be capable of scoring 10+ a game. That's a big difference from this year when you know you're never going to get 10+ a game from everyone but Warren, Mitchell and Spencer.

Warren could very easily be the go to guy inside. Keep in mind he's almost averaging a double double this year. He may only be 6'7, but he plays so hard on the inside it really doesn't matter. He should only get even better.

You know what you're going to get from Spencer at guard, although with less pressure on him next year he probably won't feel the need to take over games and mess up shooting the ball 20 times or getting 5+ turnovers.

White will be such a big upgrade from Green at center. He's a strong defensive guy and if need be can put up 10 a game or so on the offensive end.

Dotson should be 100% healthy next year and start to really see why he was so highly regarded out of high school. He plays solid defense as it is now, he just needs to develop that 3 point shot he's missing right now and he'll be a very solid starter.

Derenbecker is just a player, he's ready to go on this level. Not a 20/10 type of guy nearly as a true freshman but definitely a guy who can put up at least 10 a game.

Stringer off the bench could be another offensive output that we lack this year off the bench.

think we'll see much more balance next year, lots of young guys but derenbecker, turner, stringer can all shoot it, white and warren in the post. lets see how bo progresses throughout the rest of this season, dotson as well. it will be a nice change to actually have a team that can go more than 8/9 deep. i know white didnt put up huge numbers last season at ole miss but i think he and warren can do some damage in the post together, the young guys can shoot it, i think darenbecker can set guys up too which is what i like about his game, hopefully as a senior bo will take it upon himself with much more help not to try and do so much.

not very concerned but I will be if we don't at least compete- losing is acceptable considering our depleted talent and lack of players- not competing for 4 quarters will raise my level of concern
