How come thoughts on LSU coaches are like people’s thoughts on politics?

This happened with Les this has happened with O and this has happened with CPM over the years. People either love them or hate them and just like politics people put themselves in one camp or the other that they need to be fired or they are the best coach in history. I was slower than most to change my thoughts on Les over the years as I was willing to give him time to see if he would change. When he didn’t I said it was time to let him go. I think his firing was about 8 months too late but worked out in the long run.

So with WW, I love him as a coach however I think a lot of what is happening is on his shoulders like it was when O had Matt Canada and that situation was on O. He fixed it. We should learn from that. WW absolutely deserves criticism right now and I will be critical of him for all these blown leads. It doesn’t mean I want him fired. I want him to fix it to be the great coach I know he is, but being critical of a coach isn’t a negative. I see all these stupid post about 24-4 in SEC play and if you don’t agree with me you don’t know basketball or you are a bandwagon fan and blah blah blah.

Just stop. You are making yourself look foolish. Let’s hope WW is man enough to take responsibility and be like coach O.

There’s about 2.5 million reasons why people are quick to judge coaches.

WW has us with a very good BB team. Not yet great , but in the big scheme of things , he is doing a fine job except for the ????? Role he played in the scandal. TBD. Remember. LSU is NOT a great BB school with tepid, half assed support from a student body and fan base that fill about 1/2 to 2/3 of the seats in the PMAC on most nights. Our team is better than our fan base.

And yet there are only 2 schools (unc & ucla) who's all-time team could challenge LSU's all-time team. Not bad for not being a basketball school

It's like with the Bo vs Aranda threads. People can't just be grateful that we have 2 elite dc's back to back, they have to shite talk one of them and discredit everything they've done.

With that said I think the opposite of this thread is also true. Why do people treat Presidents like they are college football teams? Instead of saying "There is a lot that Trump does right, but I will admit that he sounds an unlikeable dumbass everytime he speaks" people go "Maga!! Go Trump!! Suck it libtards!!!" Like trump is some kind of football team that you either root for or root against.

Fans have unrealistic expectations and can’t comprehend that coaches and players are human and make mistakes that sometime result in losses.

There will undoubtedly be people calling for Coach Os job if we lose a couple games next year. It’s just the nature of the beast.

I think it boils down to 1 reason. Pride. People hate losing and look for someone to blame. Naturally the blame goes to the person who has the ultimate responsibility for the success of the organization.

I agree with you on the fan base and we can be critical of that too. There is usually multiple pieces to failure. Correcting those pieces result in success.

What % of which do you personally pay?

That might make a good topic for another thread.

"Fans" bitch about how much money is paid to Orgeron, Maineri, Wade, Aranda, etc. often aren't season ticket holders, don't contribute to TAF, attend games and buy concessions. The most they might contribute to the athletic treasury is the license fee off the LSU gear they got at Wal-Mart.

Their own actual investment in coaching salaries might be a fraction of a penny, yet here they come,"For those millions, Coach XYZ damn well better produce a natty for me."

Wade always takes responsibility. And no offense to coach O, but i prefer he not become like him. He is like saban, meticulous and detail orientee, and im fine with that. He doesnt need great assistants to win, they just help. He is young and learning. He is molding himself into an even better coach, we just need to be patient

Just like politics, people pick sides based on which side they want to represent, not based on the actual facts and results from that side. Once the side is picked, they dig in and want everyone to think like them so they will never approach the facts with an open mind.

It’s not just LSU baw. It’s all high-performing programs. And it’s mostly exclusive to the message boards. Boards are bubbles

How much other CBB do you watch? Big runs happen almost every game between decent teams
I can name multiple games just this week where teams overcame double digit leads including 2 of the biggest games yesterday

Curly not what the OP was getting at. Of course you know that but choose to act exactly like what he is actually complaining about.

I like the idea of having a place to discus LSU Alice with folks who both agree and disagree with me and who are willing to are at discussion in a Akon always manne with points and counter points.

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your perspective, this is not that place. I mostly come here for entertainment.

I haven't heard all the "OMG greatest president ever" stuff about Obama, even though I voted for him twice. Politics shouldn't be treated like a sports team, but that's where we are.
