how can i be so optimistic about this team?

we have no one coming back on the offense. what? we have 2 starters on the line who will be starting?-Sadiq Charles at LT (good start) and Campbell at guard. foster moreau returns at TE. I know he played last year but was he a starter? No one else started, although heliare, brossette, and some wr's who played were here.
I can't remember so few returning starters on offense. Plus a New OC and new o coaches all over
But there is talent there, starting with Joe Burrow.
the defense can't be just good - they have to wreck the opposing offenses, and special teams have to be great as well, to give this offense a chance to learn to play together.
college football is like a box of chocolates - you do't know what you've got until 4 or 5 games in sometimes.

It's easy with a superb defense. And this is going to be a superb defense.
Put it this way...
- no matter what we know we won't win track meets on turf; never have been that team, probably never will. None of us have seen that LSU, or will in our lifetimes.
- we all have seen super strong D's make up for some weak arse offenses.
So we've seen this before, it's not an imaginary fairy tale and black magic. It's a real possibility, so we drift towards what we know has worked and hope we see it replicated. Basic human nature.
And also the downfall of Les Miles... if it worked once before, if you just try hard enough it will work again.

All of the positive guys that keep me grounded bring up
- New OC is a better fit
- Transfers to fill holes in the roster
- Analysts and shadow staff
- Aranda in 3rd year
- Orgeron was only in first year last year
- New WR and OL coach are major upgrades
- We have a special teams coach this year
- Safeties coach will help as well
- Burrow is a QB that has been coached up by an excellent coach before coming here
- New OC is a better fit

There really isn’t anything there to definitively say that our offense will be great.
Our defense, on the other hand, will be top 5.
The point for optimism is knowing that our offense will be different. We lack a Guice and a Leonard Fournette to lean on with the running game, which automatically means we have to pass. We have a bunch of very talented yet unexperienced players and an OC who hasn’t called his own offense in 20 years. It can go either way.

Defense will be off the charts great, offense will be just good enough. LSU wins 10 games minimum.

I feel ya. Everything says expect mediocre but I’m feeling more. Lots of young great talent on O let by a somewhat veteran. Dominant D and improved special teams. Coaches gelling. What’s not to look forward to
