man, this is a huge stretch. andy cannizarro and his whole family are class acts and damn good folks. fact.

competitors, yes. but when the season is over, i'll bet there is no real animosity. you also need to realize, AC went to TULANE. that's right, fricking TULANE. they very much hate LSU's guts.

I'm not sure why CPM would hold it against an assistant coach for taking a head job at a SEC school. It would actually look bad on CPM and I wouldn't want to work with him if I knew that's how I'd be treated if I left for a better job. That said, I think something else went on to lead to the chilly relationship. I don't think CPM would be this outward with his disappointment in any other case

Forget that handshake, I watched this video like 6 times just to see that pitch from Hess! High heater and crowd goes wild! That atmosphere is why you come play at LSU.

Good. Go pump some more iron, take some more 'roids and try stealing some more recruits. Enough with the long sleeve, clothes two sizes too small so I can show my guns. Piss off.

Both coaches are very competitive and all coaches have some douche bag tendencies so that handshake was not surprising

I'd guess it has more to do with the timing and perhaps the perception that he wasn't being open with him. But it's also pretty much impossible to blame Cannizaro for taking the job regardless of when he was offered. Just a tough situation all around for everyone

ESPN announcers said Cannizzaro had two weight lifting sessons yesterday. He didn't want to hurt Maineri.

As much of an LSU fan as I am it pains me to say but here it goes I know all of the parties involved and AC and his family are fantastic people. PM, on the other hand, is usually a total prick unless their is something for him involved. I can tell you that the opinion is not just mine but most people I know that know both, especially Mainieri, say exactly the same thing. I didn't see it but did PM bring the lineup card out? Because I had a guy I know call me all pissed because he said he didn't and it was because of Cannizaro being on the other side. I still love my Tigers and I think Mainieri is a fine manager but just saying what I have seen and experienced through the years.

Nothing to see here. Just going down the line, but lets make a mountain out of a mole hill if it is even a mole hill.

What do you want them to do? They will have this handshake 1, maybe 2 more times in the next 2 days. No need to get all buddy buddy, when you will see each other maybe 2 more times in 48 hours.

They shook hands normally as coaches do prior to the start of the game prior to the National Anthem when both teams lined up along the infield foul lines.

Anyone care to elaborate on the rumor the State was denied use of the indoor batting facility, after we reportedly used the one in Starkville?

Tell your "guy" you know to frick off.

Mainieri brought the lineup card out just like he always does.

ETA: Here's a photo of the line up card exchange prior to last night's game (from nola.com).

PM thinks cannizaro kind of kept him in the dark about the conversations he had with cohen prior to PM getting the call from cohen about the job. Also thinks he stole a recruit. (He likely didnt, kid just wanted to play for Andy)

Not to mention timing. Plus, Seniors who committed to come back and make the next season special.

He made the decision that was best for him and no one can blame him for that. If I were him I would be pissed I didn't stay and coach this amazing group then take the USCe job. Screw Starkville.
